REVIEW for The A List (Ali Reynolds #14) by J.A. Jance

Hardcover, 352 pages
Expected publication: April 2nd 2019 by Gallery Books

In the next “devilish page-turner” (People) from New York Times bestselling author J.A. Jance, Ali Reynolds learns that no good deed goes unpunished.

More than ten years after the abrupt end of her high-profile broadcasting career, Ali Reynolds has made a good life for herself in her hometown of Sedona, Arizona. She has a new house, a new husband, and a flourishing cybersecurity company called High Noon Enterprises, where her team of veritable technological wizards hunts down criminals one case at a time.

But the death of an old friend brings Ali back to the last story she ever reported: a feel-good human interest piece about a young man in need of a kidney to save his life, which quickly spiraled into a medical mismanagement scandal that landed a prestigious local doctor in prison for murder.

Years may have passed, but Dr. Edward Gilchrist has not forgotten those responsible for his downfall—certainly not Ali Reynolds, who exposed his dirty deeds to the world. Life without parole won’t stop him from getting his revenge. Tattooed on his arm are the initials of those who put him behind bars, and he won’t stop until every person on that Annihilation List is dead.

In this gripping suspense novel from the New York Timesbestselling author praised for her “inimitable, take-no-prisoners style” (Kirkus Reviews), Ali Reynolds and her team race against the clock to stop this ruthless killer—before her own name is crossed out for good.

My Thoughts…

I’ve been in a funk.   My reading has slowed down, I’ve struggled to find a book that I just raved about and couldn’t put down.    J.A. Jance has broken my funk.   I picked up The A List and hated to put it down.   My neighbor likes to read also and I was raving about this book before I even finished it.    Then when I finished it I told her she had to read it, she’s already pre-ordered it!

So many women struggle with fertility issues and see doctors like Dr. Gilchrist.    It made my heart hurt that a doctor would cut corners just to save money while playing with the lives of his patients.   I admire Ali for taking on a story that could potentially end up affecting the lives of so many people.   Yes, I realize this is fiction but it is okay to look up to characters for using the platforms they have to help others.     I was horrified at Dr. Gilchrist’s nurses and receptionist but most especially his mother.   There are ways to support and help your son, even when he is in prison, but oh my gosh, she takes it to a whole other level.

I am hooked.   J.A. Jance is a must-read author.   The Ali Reynolds Series is a must have more of series.   I loved that this book can be read as part of the series but it was also a standalone book.
