From the ashes.
That was my plan from the very beginning.
To rise from the inferno and build something new with Makaylie. She’s everything I never knew I wanted. Everything I thought I didn’t need.

So when her safety is in question because of my very existence, I must protect her. Even if it’s from the men who look up to me as their leader. If they found out about her, the cost would be devastating.
She’s a good girl—I’m nothing but a wounded man with a black heart, keeping my identity from her.

When our different worlds collide, the outcome will be catastrophic—not only for her but for the people we love. The chaos I’ve unleashed will wreak havoc on the streets of Baton Rouge, and no one will be safe.
Not even the sanctity of the Baton Rouge Bachelors can outrun the storm that’s coming.

From K E Osborn, USA Today bestselling author comes…
The conclusion to the Baton Rouge Bachelors Duet.
An opposites attract spin-off from the NOLA Defiance MC Series, but you don’t need to read NOLA Defiance to enjoy the conclusion to this duet. The alpha hero has ‘touch her and I will unalive you’ vibes, with a great supporting cast that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

With a flair for all things creative, USA Today Bestselling Author K E Osborn, is drawn to the written word. Exciting worlds and characters flow through her veins, coming to life on the page as she laughs, cries, and becomes enveloped in the storyline right along with you. She's entirely at home when writing sassy heroines and alpha males that rise from the ashes of their pasts.

K E Osborn comforts herself with tea and Netflix, after all, who doesn't love a good binge?

Explosive. Addictive. Romance.

Book Review for The Me List by Julee Balko

The Me List by Julee Balko

Published:  January 24, 2024 by Black Rose Writing

Taken from Goodreads:
Ziplining despite being scared of heights. Learning yoga when you're afraid of downward anything. Facing your strained relationship with your mother. When Olivia writes a ME List, she picks 10 things to get her out of her suburban mom funk. But what she really needs is to figure out how to deal with her next-door neighbor, nemesis, and new boss-Patricia. Patricia is the top realtor in their town and has the perfect life. But when Olivia agrees to be Patricia's assistant, she discovers Patricia's life isn't as perfect as she thought. The Me List is a touching tale about the complexity of friendship, the importance of reserving judgment, and the rocky path that life takes as we get older. Julee Balko brings snark and heart to this journey of self-improvement with a keen eye for flawed characters. Can a list change a life?

My Thoughts:  The Me List is a quick book to read.   There are only a few characters so it is easy to keep track of them and their story stays right on track.   Olivia is living a partial life.   She loves her husband and daughter but is missing part of herself.  Patricia is the mean neighbor but somehow gets Olivia to work for her.

The Me List that Olivia makes pushes her to make herself happier.    The 10 items on her list are all things she wants to do for herself.  I liked that she recognized what was either missing or what she was struggling with and was willing to work to “fix” them.   There was at least one item on the Me List for every person that read this book to relate to.     I wish that her husband was more understanding and wanting to support her.  His sarcasm and criticism did not sit well with me.  I felt like he was holding her back at every step or making fun of her.

I love the idea of a Me List and everyone should have one.  Hopefully those in your life will support you and encourage you to become a happier person.

Thank you GetRedPr for a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.

 Lake in the Clouds #2

Balancing Act by Emily March

Published November 28, 2023 by Forever

Genre:  Chic Lit

Taken from Goodreads:
Return to Lake in the Clouds, Colorado, with this feel-good, emotional story from New York Times bestselling author Emily March!

Genevieve Prentice is learning to let go. Now settled in Lake in the Clouds, Colorado, forging new relationships with her adult children. She’s even opening up her heart to a handsome widower, for the first time since her husband’s death. But when her estranged eldest daughter moves to Lake in the Clouds, Genevieve’s life is upended once again.
Willow Eldridge has numerous reasons to move to Lake in the Clouds. Regaining the close relationship she and her mother once shared is just one of them. But as much as she wants to explain to Genevieve why she’s pushed her away all these years, her first priority is her troubled young son. And when he forms a connection with a town resident with scars of his own, Willow can’t decide if he’s the answer to her prayers . . . or just another mistake waiting to happen.
With Genevieve’s sixtieth birthday drawing near, mother and daughter struggle to reconnect, and Genevieve worries if Willow will ever let go of her doubts and fears to become the courageous woman she’s always known her to be. But that’s the beauty of Lake in the Clouds—there, beneath its clear blue skies, anything seems possible.

My Thoughts:  Willow and her two young children have come to Colorado after losing her husband.   She has a big secret that she is holding in.    Willow needs to escape her life and start over, she needs a fresh start and being near her mom will help her with that.  Genevieve has moved to Colorado to start a life as Genevieve without being seen as just a mom or grandma.   Although Genevieve is older than I am, I can relate to being someone’s mom and not being seen as my own person.

Balancing Act has the perfect title.   Life is a balancing act and it is not easy to balance it.   Each character is trying to find their best life and keep those closest to them happy.  This book has a lot going on it in.      There is loss of love, finding new love, relationships being mended, friendships starting, and family dynamics being redefined.

This is book 2 in the series and I have not read book 1 and still enjoyed this book.   I am going to go back and read book 1 because I enjoyed this book so much.   I found the characters relatable and becoming people I am invested in.  The storyline moved smoothly and it was easy to read.

Release Blitz for Sunshine Love by Bailey Hart

Sunshine Love by Bailey Hart is now live!

I'm a grumpy single dad. She's my ex-fiancée's best friend.

Hiring her wasn't a part of the plan. Neither was falling for her.

I'm an ex-country music star so finding a nanny for the summer won't be easy.
The last thing I need is an employee who sees me as more than her boss.

That's what I think, until I lay eyes on June.
Broken-hearted, sexy June is the reason I started singing in the first place.

She's also the reason I stopped.
The one who got away. My sunshine girl. Totally off-limits.

She needs a job while she gets back on her feet. And I'll always give her what she needs.
Now I'm the one who wants more.
Because having her under my roof is unbearable.
And going to bed with her in the room next to mine is impossible.
Each stolen summer night brings us closer to the day she'll leave this small town.
But now that I've touched her, I won't let her go.
F*ck the plan. June is mine.
