Evelyn

I pray to be forgiven for my sins, but the prayers of someone like me won't dare breach the edge of heaven.

Sins. All sins are equal in the eyes of God, but I'm not God. Some sins are far more wretched than others. And those sinners should pay, Evelyn. One sinner made me his sin, and I can't let men like him live. They must face their judgement, Evelyn. I want to kill them. Every. Last. One.

Ezra James is no different, and I wanted to kill him, I needed to kill him, I'm was going to kill him...And then I found myself fascinated by him, obsessed and possessed in the most reverent of ways. I became his sinner, and he became my sin, but the wages of sin is death, so I must kill him.

Ezra

The son of a whore, raised by gangsters, moulded into a key player in a corrupt world ruled by money and completely without morals.

This world can break a person. I’ve seen it time and time again. I never gave a shit, until the night I watched a man drop dead at the feet of a woman so broken she made even me feel whole. My little killer called to my depravity and everything in me demanded that I take her, possess her, own her.

Some monsters hide behind the faces of angels, where others stand in plain sight.

Damned. Broken. Irredeemable.

Through blood, absolution shall be found.

Speak No Evil Trilogy by Amy Richie

Published 2014

An Omnibus: Unspoken, Soft Spoken, Outspoken

"They call me crazy, but they can't see what I see."

Ren is just an ordinary, average girl. Her mother tried to kill her when she was six and then killed herself instead. Her father hid her away in a mental hospital and forgot about her. Oh, and she can see ghosts.

Okay, maybe not so ordinary after all.

My Thoughts…

Speak No Evil is a series of three books; Unspoken, Soft Spoken, and Outspoken.    There is nothing better than getting a series of books that you can start and finish without having to wait forever to get the next installment.     I was lucky enough to get all three books at one time.     I devoured them.

The characters were entertaining and easy to relate to.    I found myself wanting to know what would happen to Ren, would she choose Toby or Tristan, and would she ever mend her relationship with her father.       The ghosts who visited her scared me at times, but I loved how they came and went from Ren’s life.    Tristan came into Ren’s life and was shady (so I felt).    I was iffy on him and wanted Ren to RUN RUN RUN from him.    Toby I was unsure of, he was mean but did have Ren’s best interest at heart.

There were times throughout the story that I felt like I was reading a young adult story and times that I felt the story line was dragging or heading a little off the written path.     Overall I felt like the Speak No Evil trilogy was a great read with characters I loved and a storyline that I could not stop reading.    I recommend checking it out.

From New York Times Bestselling Author, Penelope Ward, comes a new standalone novel.

Sharing a summer house with a hot-as-hell roommate should be a dream come true, right?

Not when it’s Justin…the only person I’d ever loved…who now hates me.

When my grandmother died and left me half of the house on Aquidneck Island, there was a catch: the other half would go to the boy she helped raise.

The same boy who turned into the teenager whose heart I broke years ago.

The same teenager who’s now a man with a hard body and a hardass personality to match.

I hadn’t seen him in years, and now we’re living together because neither one of us is willing to give up the house.

The worst part? He didn’t come alone.

I’d soon realize there’s a thin line between love and hate. I could see through that smug smile. Beneath it all…the boy is still there. So is our connection.

The problem is…now that I can’t have Justin, I’ve never wanted him more.

Author's note – RoomHate is a full-length standalone novel. Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

My Thoughts…

**I am writing one review for both books in this series and I am being very careful not to giveaway any spoilers**

The Damaged Hearts series is a story about two people who come from lives so different that the chances of them even meeting is astronomical.   Yet, they do meet, in an airport, and they do fall in love.    While they live such different lives, they are so similar.   Neither of their lives have been easy, they have both been left by people who were suppose to love them forever.    They have trust issues.

I have to be honest, I disliked Ryan Price so much.   I felt like he was dishonest, sneaky, and spoiled (in a not so good way).   He was so use to getting his own way that he failed repeatedly to think of how his actions would affect anyone else.   Then when people got upset with him, especially Elizabeth, he turned into this smooth talked who whined his way back into their good graces.    He was also very giving, using his wealth to help those who needed help and not holding it over their heads.

Elizabeth was naïve.   She got upset, rightly so, with Ryan A LOT but always let him talk his way back into her life and her bed.     When Ryan kissed her or held her she just melted and forgave him for whatever he did wrong.    I wanted her to stand up to him, be strong, tell him where to go and not let him back into her life so easily.      It drove me crazy.    Yet, she was so good for him.  Liz made him human.    She let him hurt, cry, smile, and enjoy life which were all things he didn’t do before her.

It sounds like I didn’t like the book or the characters.    That is not true.   I loved the books.   I read them both in a matter of 36 hours and could not put them down.     The story was one that caught my attention on page one and continued until the very end.      This is a series that you have to read in order.  It is also a series that YOU HAVE TO READ.    The Damaged Hearts series is the first thing I have read from Emily Krat, but it is not my last.

Excerpt
I manage to make only a couple of steps when Ryan catches me around the elbow and turns me to face him. I don’t even have time to react when he crushes me to him, lifts my face to his, and kisses me hard. Ryan kisses me like he’s never kissed me before. With desperation, as if he’d die if he stops. His lips and tongue are demanding, hungry, almost bruising. It’s not the tentative, reclaiming kiss I expected us to have after so many months apart. No. This is a devouring, claiming, and merciless kiss. It’s an I-hate-seeing-other-men-touch-you, why-are-you-fighting-us, every-second-without-you-is-torture kiss. Feeling fire running through my veins, I bring my hands up to cup his jaw and kiss him back with everything I am. Even if I’m not ready to admit it, being without Ryan has been an insufferable anguish for me too. No matter how hard I try to deny it, my heart still wants him with every beat it takes. I don’t even care that we’re making a scene when my hands roam over his hard body, grabbing and squeezing. When our lips finally part, we stare at each other, his breaths as labored as my own. I swallow. Neither of us moves as tension zings between us. Shit, what have I done? In a poor attempt at protecting my heart, I take a step away from Ryan and murmur, “You shouldn’t have done that.” His jaw clenches and his eyes fill with a rush of remorse. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t … God, I’m such a fucking asshole. I’m really sorry.” No, I didn’t mean that. I want you to do it again. No. I don’t. God, I’m a mess. “It’s okay. I mean … I did kiss you back. I…” My stammering will cost me. His expression suddenly relaxes and a bit of a triumph flashes in his eyes. “You did.” He cups my cheek, his thumb tracing the line of my jaw. “Let me chase away all your fears about us. Let me kiss all the scars I left on your heart.” He’s so earnest in his plea. “Ryan …” I whisper, feeling the walls I’ve built to protect myself crack with his every word. And his expression. God, I’m drowning in the depths of the emotions pouring out of his green eyes. “Being apart from you, thinking I’d never hold you like this again has been hell.” Holy, sweet Lord. What is he doing to me? Radiating agony streams from him. “Never again I’ll make a choice for you or demean your opinion. I promise to always respect your wishes and your freedom to make decisions for yourself. No matter how strong my feelings for you are, it doesn’t give me the right to decide for you.” He pauses and gathers a deep breath. “It took me a long time to realize we have nothing without trust. I know that now. I’ll never make the same mistake again, Liz. Let me make good on every broken promise. Let me dry every precious tear you shed for me.” He leans down, his lips hovering over mine, and whispers across my mouth. “Elizabeth, please, forgive me.” His plea wraps around my heart and squeezes, taking my breath away. I push back the tears. God, I dreamed about this moment for so long. Now it’s here, and I’m stunned and lost. Before I can form a coherent thought, his lips are on mine again. This kiss is different. It’s loving and slow and begs for forgiveness. And it ends too soon. “I know your friends are waiting for you. Call me when you’re ready for me to be in your life again. I’ll be waiting. No matter how long it takes.” Wait. What? My emotions choke me as I watch Ryan walk down the hall and away from me. He disappears from view, leaving me in such a state that I can hardly string two cohesive thoughts together. Who does that? Who leaves like that? Asshole. He was right to leave. His presence, his kisses and touches make me defenseless. I promised myself not to be so easily dazzled again, yet here I am trembling with lips swollen from his kisses. My heart thuds uncontrollably in my chest, and the urge to run after him chokes me. I draw in a deep, steadying breath. There are two options here. I can ask him to leave my life for good or take a leap of faith and try to make this work between us. What do I do?

Wiping the crumbs off his jeans, Finn reached into his backpack and threw an apple at me, which I caught with a deft hand. “Nice catch,” he said, grinning. I flung the apple up into the air and caught it in my other hand. “I played third base. Little League.” “You mean baseball?” I nodded. “Never seen a game myself.” I gaped at Finn. “You mean you live in Chicago, and you’ve never been to a Cubs game?” He shrugged. “Not interested.” Finn’s eyes lit up, and he shoved me playfully with his shoulder. “Now hurling. That’s a good game.” “Well, they’re totally different. That’s not even a fair comparison,” I said with a sniff. “Fair enough,” Finn said, wistful. “Really, nothing can compare with hurling.” I laughed. “Moiré tried to explain the rules to me once, but she lost me after hurley stick.” “Oh, it’s simple, really.” Finn jumped down and rummaged around the rubble until he found a large branch. He swung it, the stick cutting through the air, slowly at first, but then with more force. Finn’s chest muscles rippled between the flaps of his leather jacket, and my blood pulsed in my ears at the sight of him, dancing from foot to foot as he practiced his swing. “Now the point of hurling,” Finn began, “is to use this stick, the hurley stick.” He raised the old branch in the air. “To get a little ball called a sliotar either over or under your opponent’s goalpost.” Finn picked up a handful of small rocks and, using his “hurley,” sent a pebble whizzing over the stone wall, inches from my head. “Hey, watch it!” Finn smiled up at me. “You with me so far?” I nodded. “Now,” Finn said. “If the ball flies under the goalpost into the net, it’s worth three points.” Finn sent another pebble skittering against the wall, right next to my boot. “But you have to get it past the keeper, and that can be a challenge.” His eyes glittered at me as he swung his stick again. He threw a rock up in the air and with a loud thwack sent it zooming over the wall. I held out my hand and caught the stone, the look on Finn’s face making up for the sting of impact. “And he’s out!” I cried, jumping off the wall and doing a mock victory dance. “Cubs win! Cubs win! Wooooooooooooo!” Finn stalked over to me and grabbed my fist. “Will you settle down!” he said, attempting to pry the pebble from my grip. “I’m trying to teach you a three-thousand-year-old art form and you’re nattering on about the fecking Cubs.” I giggled, snatching his hurley stick from his hands. “Technical foul!” Finn barked behind me, but I sprinted away, swinging the hurley over my head as I climbed the wall. “Get back here, you brat!” Finn bolted after me so quickly, he lost his footing on the stone wall and tumbled to the ground. I laughed as he came to his feet, his hair loose, chasing me. “It’s the bottom of the ninth, bases are loaded!” Finn made a snatch for the stick, but I feigned to the right. “Tanner’s up to bat.” I climbed a set of old stairs to nowhere and tossed up the stone. I popped out my hips and, following through on the turn, sent the stone flying over the hill and down the cliffs below. I jumped down, swinging my baseball/hurley bat. “Homerun by Tanner! And the Cubs win the pennant!” Finn smacked into me, and I collapsed to the ground, his wide body over mine as he grasped for the stick. “Dammit, O’Connell!” I gasped beneath Finn, his whole weight crushing my chest. “Now I know for a fact hurling is not a contact sport!” I laughed as I squirmed to get away, holding out the stick just beyond his reach. “Neither is baseball!” With a devilish grin, Finn tickled my armpit, and I curled up in a fit of giggles. He made a grab for my wrist, pinning me to the ground, and his gray eyes danced as he looked down at me. My laughter faded, and running my other hand through his hair, I pulled his face to mine. He kissed me, a low moan rumbling deep in his throat. Finn nipped my bottom lip with his teeth, and my back arched as our hips melded together, my better judgment forgotten. He slid his arm beneath my shoulders and pulled me close against him, kissing me long and hard, and I gasped, gulping for air as he lowered his mouth to my neck.

Heated Ride by Chelsea Camaron

Title: Heated Ride
Series: The Hellions Ride #7
Author: Chelsea Camaron
Genre: MC Romance
Release: January 24, 2016
Cover Designer: Cover Me Darling
The Hellions motorcycle club is a commitment for life, one Ruben ‘Ruby’ Castillo believes in.
His wife Jenna ‘Vida’ Natera de Castillo has given her life to being his ol’ lady and the mother to their three children. She takes her commitment to her man seriously.
People change, and over time, passion can fizzle. Life for Jenna falls apart the day Ruby no long-er says I do.
Keeping the fires burning in a marriage is hard. Will the chaos of the club bring them back to-gether, or is it what pulls them further apart? Will these two find the flame again? Will their love find a new spark on their heated ride through life?

My Thoughts…

I have read the entire Hellions Ride series, that is not right… I have devoured this series.   Heated Ride is no exception.    The thing that was different is how much I could relate to Jenna and Ruby’s marriage.   It is scary how realistic Chelsea Camaron wrote this book.   It is so easy to just be married and let life roll past you.     Jenna and Ruby have let that happen.    Then all of a sudden they have realized that they have lost themselves and each other.   I know, it sounds depressing.   It isn’t.   The story is how they work through their own doubts to come back to each other.

While the motorcycle club aspect of this series is an unknown to me, the men and women who are found within these pages are realistic.    They are tough with personal issues yet they fall in love with their entire souls.      Ruby and Jenna (Vida) definitely have overcome a rough history.    Friends since they were little and in Mexico they have made a good life in the United States legally, falling in love and raising a wonderful family.    They are happy and in love, until they aren’t.    This is the story of human nature and being married.    It is the story of two people who truly love each other losing themselves and having to find a way to come back together.    It is not easy to read about.   A marriage falling apart never is easy, especially when kids are involved.   Yet, I found this an inspiring story.

Heated Ride is not the typical MC book.    It is a book with lots of heart.   I recommend this series, which can be read in any order or as a stand-a-lone book.
