My Thoughts…

Melissa Foster…. Oh what you do to me.     The heat, the passion, and the love are always amazing in your books.   Seaside Whispers is no exception.   While I LOVE LOVE LOVE all that what I really enjoy is the friendships.    The Seaside Girls are absolutely the best friends anyone could ever ask for.      I love how the open their “club” to other girls as they become part of the friendship circle.    Of course there was chunky dipping, helping Mira achieve her goals, and support with every aspect of life.   

The relationship between Matt and Mira was sweet.    They’ve been flirting through text and occasional visits for over a year and when he decides to take a sabbatical for 3 months their relationship  takes off.      Matt didn’t just have a relationship with Mira he had a relationship with Mira and Hagen, Mira’s 6 year old son.     The way he accept and included Hagen in all they did warmed my heart.    I could understand how Mira was anxious about just letting Matt into their life when his plans were to leave again.    Hagen and Mira both fell in love with Matt and him leaving would shatter them.   

I loved the ending.    Theresa is hilarious.   Bella, one of the Seaside Girls, has pranked Theresa each season and Theresa gets the last word this season.   I laughed so hard as tears fell because the moment was just so sweet and wonderful.      I see a future with many more pranks. 

SEASIDE WHISPERS is part of the SEASIDE SUMMERS series, and part of the "Love in Bloom" family. Each book may be read as a stand-alone novel, or as part of the series.

My Thoughts…

Island of Glass is based primarily in Ireland on the Island of Clare.     The guardians travel to Bran’s home to make their home base while searching for the final and third star.     This location is tied to Doyle.   It is the place of his youth.   It is also the place where his young brother died and his life was never the same.    The location is mystical.     The cliffs, the crashing sea, the forest and gardens, and the house itself with towers, spiral staircases, and a library are all described with so much detail that as a reader I could picture it perfectly.  

 I have read the first two books in this series and Island of Glass continued this amazing story right where the others left off.      The story of Bran, Doyle, Riley, Sasha, Sawyer and Annika is continued perfectly.    I enjoyed their relationships with each other, both romantically and as friends.    I enjoyed how these 6 came together as strangers and formed friendships that were pushed to the limits and formed romantic relationships that seemed impossible at the beginning.      The respect, love, and sense of family was shared throughout the entire story.    Even when at odds over what the next step should be they never let anything get between them.     Each of the characters is unique yet together they work perfectly.     Their distinctive personalities lead towards building their friendships and finding the final star. 

This series is wonderful.    The Guardians Trilogy does have to be read in order but they are fun reads.       I recommend picking up all three of the books.

My Thoughts…

Boys, brothers, and family making their dreams come true is exactly what Out of Beat is about.   Yet, there is so much more to this story.    There is romance, love, 100% support, and truths shared.    Out of Beat is a new series by Cassandra Giovanni.    Each book in this series will be its own story centering around music and bands.    

Each member of the band has their own story yet Out of Beat centers around Danny and Skylar.    They have shared secrets, protected each other, and loved each other for most of their lives.   Their relationship was always brother/sister like until the night before Danny left to live his dream.   One kiss changed everything.    I loved their relationship.   It was one that started with friendship and respect then moved into more.   I really liked that they respected their friendship and didn’t push it to be more than what it was.   Yet, they both knew that they were it for each other.    There was never any doubt that Danny and Skylar would end up together.    

The friendships of the other band members was just as enjoyable.    The jokes, the smiles, the travelling, and the hanging out were all realistic.   The traveling with the band in the RV was sure to cause fights or arguments.  I liked that they could talk them out, drink them out, or play them out instead of coming to blows or just yelling at each other.    

I am excited about this series of books  and cannot wait to read more.   It is great that each book will standalone yet have a similar theme.    Cassandra Giovanni has a great start.    I recommend picking up your own copy.

My Thoughts…

When I started Love, Alice I knew nothing about Magdalene laundries or asylums.    What a horrific place to send unwed mothers.   They were like prisons only worse.    Barbara Davis had to have done research and studied these dreadful places to be able to portray them so realistically in her book.    I believe that once you are sent to this place it will always be part of you.   Your trust, your life, and your future are shaped by having a terrible experience like being sent to a Magdalene laundry.  

As Alice’s search for her baby leads her to a new place and a new world she shows how strong she really is.    She learns to love the baby, Austin, she is hired to nanny, she begins to form a friendship with Austin’s mother, Gemma, and she never gives up hope of finding out what happen to her baby.   

With each letter that she writes to her baby I felt like she opened up more of the positives in her life and the ability to live without her baby, although the hope of knowing where her baby is never leaves her.    These letters are found by Dovie and shared with Alice’s mother.   These letters are heartbreaking, honest, and full of secret thoughts and dreams.      I’m not sure Alice ever thought anyone would actually read them and certainly not her mother.   Yet, as a mother who has been estranged from her daughter for years they are life shattering.   The strength that Dory showed being able to handle hearing the horrors that Alice went through showed the power of being a mother.    The ability to put her feelings aside and want to understand her daughter made her a good mother. 

I have to mention Dovie’s part in the story.  After losing her fiancé to suicide she is thrown into a spiral of grief and not guilty.      She spends her days sitting as his grave trying to come to terms with what her future looks like and finding the answer to why he killed himself.      Dovie is the one who finds the first letter and continues to read the letters to Dory.      She takes care of Dory in her failing health and helps her find the answers to the questions about Alice.    

Love, Alice is a book that is full of history, devastation, and hope.   It is a story of moving past the history to be able to accept and welcome the future.

My Thoughts…

Talk about a messed up story!  Oh My Gosh.      I loved it!     Behind Closed Doors proves that you should never ever ever judge another person’s relationship by what you see.       Jack and Grace appeared to have it all.    Jack is a successful lawyer, Grace is beautiful, together they are perfect right?    Yea… not so much.     Jack is psycho!     Even that word is too nice for him.      I read the last page looked at my husband and said this might be the most messed up story I have ever read.   He asked if I liked it, I said yea.    Just got a head shake from him.   

The feelings I felt while reading this were not the normal book feelings.     There was never ever a warm loving feeling between Jack and Grace.    There was never a point where I went awe, I wish my relationship was like theirs.      I was sick to my stomach, concerned, and almost hopeless.     My thought was that Grace had to figure out how to get out of this relationship with her husband but could she do it before he kills her or her sister?    

I loved Esther was amazing.   I loved her as the neighbor.   From the first meeting you could tell she was suspicious of Jack yet she knew she had to hold back and bide her time.    Any missteps could push Jack over the edge.     I liked that she didn’t ever give up on Grace.   She was her support even when Grace was locked away. 

B.A. Paris wrote a novel that I could not put down.   I definitely recommend picking up your own copy.

Magic, witches, mobsters, and fireworks?   Sounds like an interesting combination.      Add in some romance and you know the story can’t be anything but wonderful.    

The characters in Mr. Thorne & the Witch were entertaining.    There were bad guys, good guys, stealing housekeepers, dead people, witches, and some just normal people.     Every single one of the characters was perfectly written for their part in this story.      The bad guys were really bad and deserved all that they got.    The good guy is my favorite of course.    The witch is someone I want as my friend.   The rest I enjoyed.  

The relationship between Karene and Malcolm was perfect.     I liked that Malcolm helped her out without expectations of anything in return.   Yet, she stayed and worked for him because it was what she wanted to do.    The learning of the firework making trade was a little confusing to me since I am not familiar with the chemicals used.      It was nice that Malcolm recognized that Karene needed to be able to tell him her story in her time and he did not push her to tell him before she was ready.   

I really enjoyed Mr. Thorne & the Witch.    I recommend checking it out.
