Francesca Penn lives in Texas with her husband and son. While obtaining her Technical Writing degree, a creative writing course and playwriting elective reawakened her desire to create stories. Her brain lives in fiction; even the songs she listens to become music videos in her head.
When she is not writing, she can be found hounding her loved ones with multiple “What-if” scenarios. As a true closet romantic, she is prone to filling up her DVR with Hallmark movies. A friend once told her that she’d trained the whole 20 plus years she’d known her to write romance since her nose was always in a love story.
Francesca believes that love is colorblind and plans to provide a mix of couples of different races and ethnicities because – to her – men are like Skittles, and we all know their motto.
King Ellie discovered her love for dark romance through reading and as she read more and more of them, she discovered that this was the genre she wanted to write it. The antiheroes and what others would classify as villains, she sees them as an opportunity to show what a hurt, heartbroken male who is seen as anything but can love harder. The heroines get a chance to be loved deeply and only by the antiheroes. Love isn't always just black and white... it's a spectrum of color.
On June 25th, 1894, Annie Cohen Kopchovsky, a young Jewish mother of three small children, stood before a crowd of
500 friends, family, suffragists and curious onlookers at the Massachusetts State House. She then climbed onto a 42-
pound Columbia bicycle and, according to the Boston Evening Transcript, “sailed away like a kite down Beacon Street.”
Fifteen months later, the New York World declared Annie’s round-the-world bicycle trip, “the most extraordinary journey
ever undertaken by a woman.”
In SPIN: A Novel Based on a (Mostly) True Story author Peter Zheutlin, the great grandnephew of Annie, reimagines
the life of this extraordinary woman. Reportedly set in motion by a wager between two wealthy Boston merchants, the bet
required Annie not only to circle the earth by bicycle in 15 months, but to earn $5,000 en route, as well. This was no mere
test of a woman’s physical endurance and mental fortitude; it was a test of a woman’s ability to fend for herself in the
world.
Traveling with only a change of clothes and a pearl-handled revolver, Annie was outlandish, brash, and charismatic – a
master of public relations, a consummate self-promoter, and a skillful creator of her own myth. In SPIN, this remarkable
heroine and her marvelous, stranger-than-fiction story is vividly brought to life for a new generation.
About the Author: Peter Zheutlin is the author of the New York
Times bestseller Rescue Road: One Man, Thirty Thousand Dogs and a Million Miles
on the Lost Hope Highway and The Dog Went Over the Mountain: Travels with
Albie – An American Journey (also available from Pegasus Books), a Lowell
Thomas/Society of American Travel Writers Award winner. Peter lives in
Massachusetts with his wife, author Judy Gelman.
“An icon at the dawn of women’s cycling, Annie Londonderry was part
athlete, part adventurer, and part scoundrel. In SPIN, Peter Zheutlin takes
inspiration from her real-life story to present a rollicking account of her
bicycle trip around the world and explore the personal costs of forging ahead
as an ambitious New Woman in the 1890s.” – Sue Macy, author of

Genre:Historical Fiction, WWII, Books about Books, France
From Goodreads…Through letters with a famous
author, one French librarian tells her love story and describes the brutal Nazi
occupation of her small coastal village.
Saint-Malo, France: August
1938. Jocelyn and Antoine are
childhood sweethearts, but just after they marry and are hoping for a child,
Antoine is called up to fight against Germany. As the war rages, Jocelyn
focuses on comforting and encouraging the local population by recommending
books from her beloved library in Saint-Malo. She herself finds hope in
her letters to a famous author.
After the French capitulation, the Nazis occupy
the town and turn it into a fortress to control the north of French Brittany.
Residents try passive resistance, but the German commander ruthlessly purges
part of the city's libraries to destroy any potentially subversive writings. At
great risk to herself, Jocelyn manages to hide some of the books while waiting
to receive news from Antoine, who has been taken to a German prison camp.
What unfolds in her letters is Jocelyn’s
description of her mission: to protect the people of Saint-Malo and the books
they hold so dear. With prose both sweeping and romantic, Mario Escobar brings
to life the occupied city and re-creates the history of those who sacrificed
all to care for the people they loved.
My Thoughts…As an avid reader I love libraries.I had not given much thought to the
libraries during WWII and how that war would affect them. The idea that the Nazi’s would burn books just
to push their propaganda is horrible.I
cannot imagine the number of amazing books lost during the war.Jocelyn’s strength in protecting her library
while also working with the resistance to do her part in fighting the Nazi’s
was amazing.She was a hero,
understated, but appreciated by the people of Saint-Malo.
WWII was a horrible time in France.Jocelyn worked to save the library but in
the process she also writes letter to Mario Escobar in hopes that her story
would not die with her.She knew that
the risks she took could cause her death at any time. There was always the risk of being caught
and prosecuted for going against the Germans.I enjoyed each letter she wrote and the depth that it gave her story. She wrote of the happenings but also of her
feelings and fears.I felt for all that
she had to live through but was in constant awe of the strength she showed in
standing up to those against her, working with those who needed her, and never
giving up hope that her library would still be standing when the war was over.
There are many books written about WWII and even more
historical fiction but this book was unique in its letter format and the focus
on the library.I loved it, I could not
stop reading, and I recommend it.

But becoming a family will be harder than expected when fighting for those you love are threatened by power and greed. Readers will devour this billionaire blackmail romance featuring one sexy reluctant dad. Fall in love with your next book boyfriend with Savannah’s Salvation by Louise Lennox, the first book in the Single Dad’s Romance series.
For one night, I had the one man that millions of women worldwide fantasize about.
My time with the French billionaire Michael Asara shouldn't matter, but it does. Because one night left me with so much more than a good time.
Except, he has no idea that he left me with more than a smile on my face, because I fled without a good-bye. And planned to never look back.
Until I'm forced to tell Michael about the product of our one-night stand while on assignment a year later in Paris.
Already a devoted dad to a little girl who was abandoned by her gold-digging mother, Michael isn't looking to get burned twice.
Unless that fire is between the sheets, where our chemistry is off the charts. Reconnecting and proving to him that I'm not like everyone else quickly has Michael staking his claim on me and our son.
For a moment, we're almost like a real family.
But when a blackmailer comes along and threatens to take what belongs to him, he vows to do anything to protect us...even if that means letting us go
My daughter is my entire world, but my father views her birth as a blemish on my record. He loves Gabrielle and treats her like spun silk. But whenever I talk of taking over the family business, he mentions the circumstances of her birth and accuses me of poor judgement. And because I still wet my wick more often than my father likes, he thinks I haven’t changed.
I need to prove to him I am more than a pretty face for the cameras and women to love. I can run the business. Closing this deal in America will show him that.
However, coming to SAX Lounge before I head home and being loudly called an asshole by one of the most beautifully ballsy women I’ve ever seen will not.
She is breathtaking... whoever she is.
She’s taller than most women, but still at least a full foot shorter than me. Her legs went on forever in that dress and her skin is the color of browned butter. It looked smooth and touchable. She wore little make-up and when she spoke to me, her full lips begged me for a kiss.
I almost obliged them. But I can’t take chances like that. I’m in America, but that kiss could end up all over the French tabloids before I landed back home. Plus, I don’t know her angle. She could be just as predatory and traitorous as Gabrielle’s mother, Eve.
I need to feel her out; to get her close and away from the crowd… on the dance floor.
I didn’t notice her at first, which is probably a good thing. If I had, I would have charmed her until I talked her right out of what I imagine being very sexy panties. Instead, I was accosted by one of the many groupies I tried to shake off when I entered the bar. I can’t believe women over here even know who I am, but I should have known better.
Gold diggers do their research.
But the feisty woman at the bar doesn’t strike me as a groupie. Everything about her screamed refinement and respect.
She looked moved like she commands any room she enters.
Her eyes were an intense chocolate brown with specks of gold that demanded my attention.
Her ebony hair swung confidently down her back as she walked away. And that ass… C’est manifique!
Meeting her made my decision to get my own drinks for the night a worthy one.
When our drinks got mixed up, I wanted to play with her. I knew she was there first; I should have given her the drinks, but I wanted a reason to talk to her. Plus, I didn’t like her answer when I asked a favor.
I really needed to go. Leaving my cousin Kwame alone too long in a place like this is not a good idea. He’s a magnet for mischief and trouble. Her defiance made my dick throb, but it also made me want to discipline her. I can’t be told what to do and when she begs me to fuck her, because she will, she will learn she can’t boss me around.
Which is what I’m sure she does to everyone else in her life.
So instead of getting on my plane, I am planning how to get her into my bed.
Another night in D.C. won’t be bad at all if I have her shapely legs wrapped around my waist. Gabrielle is at Disneyland Paris with her maternal grandmother for the week, so I can spend an extra day here to have some fun with the mystery woman.
When she called me a fucking asshole, I wanted to take her pretty mouth and cleanse it of those filthy words. But I held myself, which is a feat. I usually take what I want. No one speaks to me with such disrespectful words. But if I have my way, she will apologize through multiple orgasms.
When I reach the booth Kwame secured for us, I slide his drink to him, but he barely registers my presence. He’s wrangled three women, and they are all practically naked and chomping at his rich bit. I do not have time for this. One woman licks her lips and gives me a look that says I can do anything I want to her... for the right price. But that’s not what I’m looking for.
Tonight, I want the woman who I’m pretty sure won’t do whatever I want without being perfectly persuaded. I want the woman who had the gall to call me an asshole.
“You all look cozy.” I shoot Kwame a look, and he squirms. My plan was to keep a low profile, and this is the exact opposite. “If I knew we were having company, I would have ordered more drinks.”
The women smile, and Kwame laughs nervously.
“No worries, cousin, this is VIP. Bottle service will start soon. Why don’t you sit down and join us? The ladies were just telling me about their favorite places to visit in D.C.”
“Yes.” The lip-licker purrs while patting a space beside her. “Why don’t you come and take a seat next to me.”
I conjure up the best smile I can. “No, I don’t think so. I’m actually looking for a friend.” Her face drops, and I can see the flash of annoyance in her eyes. She’s used to men just falling face-first into her fake cleavage. But I am not most men.
“Kwame, I will check on you later.”
He doesn’t protest, but I know he’s annoyed. I doubt he will keep those ladies interested without the major cash cow in the booth. But that’s his problem. And so is drinking.
Kwame drinks and gambles way too much. He boasts about power and money that he does not have. And he’s always dragging me into foolishness. I’m practically his babysitter, but tonight I have other plans. I have a woman to find.
I stop by the bar to grab another drink. Hennessey neat. I scan the lounge, and it doesn’t take me long to find her. She is sitting in a booth on the opposite side of the bar, holding court with two women.
She looks even more beautiful, relaxed and with her girls. The two women with her are also beautiful but can’t hold a candle next to her. She reminds me of a young Diahann Carroll. Her deep golden skin shimmers under the lights, making her beauty stand front and center. They are celebrating something. I hear her table scream congratulations as they toast their glasses.
Now is as good a time as any to introduce myself.

Title: Chloe’s Rescue Mission Author: Rosie Dean Release: March 4, 2015 Genre: Sassy Romantic Comedy
Will Scottish leisure tycoon help Chloe save her family's crumbling theatre?
Can she resist his notorious charms?
And just how much exposure will satisfy the paparazzi's lust for headlines?
Chloe is about to find out...
I was holding my breath for Duncan’s verdict. Please let him tell me today.
He stopped by his car and turned towards me.
‘Okay.’ The smile was gone and his eyes were fixed firmly on mine. ‘About the theatre…’ Here we go. I took a deep breath, fingers crossed under my armpits. ‘I could just give you a bunch of money but that would only help you in the short term, wouldn’t it? And it might not necessarily be the best investment for me. What you need is long-term security, experience and support. So what I’m proposing, is introducing you to a bunch of people with money and expertise – people you can network amongst and encourage to get involved. How’s that sound to you?’
‘That sounds absolutely brilliant. Thank you.’ It was the best offer I’d had so far and, as Mum often said, a bird in the hand…
‘Good. What are you doing Thursday to Saturday?’
I thought for a moment. ‘Oh, I’m being interviewed by the County Magazine on Friday.’
‘Tell them you’ll do it on Wednesday.’
I bristled. ‘I can’t just tell them when to interview me. It took me ages to get them to agree doing a piece on us. If I put them off I might not get them again for months.’
‘Listen, I’m just about to fly you to Barcelona to mix with some top execs in the field of corporate events. You’ll not get another chance like this for a while.’
My eyes, now focusing on the neck of his shirt, darted to the bonnet of his car and back again a couple of times, while I considered the implication. He cut across my thoughts.
‘Chloe, tell the magazine Duncan Thorsen’s taking you to Barcelona. Believe me, they’ll be round on Wednesday, like a shot.’
I could feel a smile tweaking the corner of my mouth. ‘I see your point.’ Our story would escalate from human interest to tabloid sensation, overnight. ‘What’s happening in Barcelona?’
‘We’re running a two-day event at one of our hotels. There’ll be some influential senior execs there who you might persuade to sponsor some part of your project.’
As he got into his car, he said, ‘I’ll ask Marlean to call you with the details.’
‘Thanks. And Duncan,’ I clasped my free hand round the ponytail at the back of my head. ‘I know this may sound cheeky – since you’re being so helpful – but I’ve found out quite a lot about Thorsen Leisure and…I’d hate you to feel you couldn’t make a financial contribution to the cause, as well.’
He started the engine and raised his eyes as he considered my suggestion. ‘It does sound cheeky. See you Thursday.’
Rosie Dean has been writing stories and plays since she was big enough to type. After studying ceramic design and gaining a ‘degree in crockery’ as the man in her life calls it, she became an Art & Pottery teacher. Seven years later, she moved into corporate world, writing training courses and marketing copy until the lure of being a full-time writer became irresistible.
Her passion is to write entertaining love stories that can make a reader chuckle, laugh out loud or, occasionally, feel a lump in the throat. Most of all, she loves developing the characters who inhabit her stories – eccentricities and screwball scenarios pop up in all of her work. Some of these characters have four legs – because animals offer an interesting counterpoint to human dramas.
Chloe’s Rescue Mission is her third romantic comedy and draws on her experiences performing in amateur theatre productions for many years. She also has a bit of a thing for men in kilts!
Rosie lives on the Isle of Wight, and can see the sea from her writing den.

Joani Elliott’s humorous contemporary fiction
debut, THE AUDACITY OF SARA GRAYSON (Post
Hill Press, May 25, 2021), brilliantly follows an insecure writer’s journey of
self-discovery as she struggles to fill the void left behind by her mother—a
best-selling literary icon.
What happens when the world’s greatest literary icon dies
before shefinishes the final book in her best-selling series?
And what happens when she leaves that book in the hands
of her unstable, neurotic daughter, who swears she’s not a writer?
Sara Grayson is a 32-year-old, part-time greeting
card writer about to land the toughest writing assignment of her life. Three
weeks after the death of her mother, a world-famous suspense novelist, Sara learns
that her mother’s dying wish is for her to write the final
book in her wildly popular Ellery Dawson series.
Sara has lived alone with her dog, Gatsby, ever since
her husband walked out with their Pro Double Waffle Maker and her last shred of
confidence. She can’t fathom writing a book for 30 million fans—not when last
week’s big win was resetting the microwave clock.
But in a bold move that surprises even
herself, Sara takes it on. Against an impossible deadline and a
publisher intent on sabotaging her every move, Sara discovers that
stepping into her mother’s shoes means stumbling on family secrets she was
never meant to find—secrets that threaten her mother’s legacy—and the very book
she’s trying to create.
My Thoughts… I was looking for a fun book.I thought how cool that a mother would not
finish a book and leave it to her non-published daughter to finish. To me that
says I have faith in you. I did not expect
Sara to be so full of self-pity.
Everything was against her, she was sure everyone was out to see her
fail, and she had no faith in herself.
The people around her for the most part did what they could to build her
up and push her to succeed but ultimately it was Sara’s responsibility to
buckle down and write the book.
The Audacity of Sara Grayson is a nice and quick book.I wanted to read it and found myself not
wanting to put it down.I did not really
love any characters and the story was predictable and cheesy at times. But as a usual more historical fiction
reader it was a fun rom-com to break up the heavier reading.I would give it 3.5 stars and would
recommend it to someone looking for a fun book.
