Title: Kill Shot
Series: Code 11 KPD SWAT #6
Author: Lani Lynn Vale
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Bennett had the world in the palm of his hands when he was sixteen, then he allowed his dick to do the thinking for him.
That one night changed his life, giving him a child that would forever alter the course of his life, and an ex that was a crazy nut case on the best of days.
With the help of his parents, he went into the Navy, becoming the SEAL that he always wanted to be. However, with that came a price.
A price he wasn’t willing to pay anymore once his little girl started to realize why he wasn’t there. So he came home and joined the local SWAT team, starting his life anew, just his daughter and him.
Then he meets the cute little physician’s assistant that looks down at him like one would an annoying fly, and he finally realizes just what he’s been missing.
Something that takes his mind off of the challenge of everyday life. Someone that dares him to be a better father and police officer.
And Lennox is one hell of a motivator.
Their relationship starts off rocky as the two of them circle each other like opponents ready to do combat rather than two civil adults. Every day brings a new battle for the two of them to overcome, and before they realize it, they’ll be fighting for each other instead of against each other.
Because there’s one woman who doesn’t want either one of them to be happy…especially not together.
Sigh…. Another book crush. Bennett is strong, sexy, and so alpha male. While he isn’t perfect, but what fun is perfect, he is as close as you can get. He protects what is his, loves with his whole heart, and tells it how it is. Yet, he keeps his heart close and sometimes pushes away those he loves the most thinking he is keeping them safe. Luckily Lennox is strong enough to push through his barriers.
Lennox is living her life in fear. She fears her stalker and her feelings. She has been hurt so many times that she cannot trust anyone. Then she meets big tough Bennett. Everything changes. She fights these changes yet her heart wins out. While I never like to see anyone struggle, Lennox’s struggles were entertaining. They were struggles of the heart. Watching her barriers go down and her letting people in was one of the best parts of the book.
Lennox and Bennett’s relationship was the main storyline, but the other storylines were the perfect compliment. The stalker storyline was interesting. The way that the stalker was brought into the story and the relationships they had with both main characters was perfect. It pulled the two together and tied them up.
I love Reagan, Bennett’s daughter. The respect that was given to her feelings about another woman being in her dad’s life showed how much thought Lani Lynn Vale gives to all the characters in her book. There were no characters left behind. Each one was given a part in the story.
This is the 6th book in the Code 11-KPD Swat series. While each can be read as a stand alone, I recommend reading them all. The characters can be found in each book, but each book tells the individual story of the main characters.
