My Thoughts:  I had this book on my wish list from the first time that I heard about it.   It lived up to everything I wanted it to be.   The characters, especially the Big Four, were great with HUGE personalities and even bigger lives.   They are elite women with their own secrets and secrets about each other.  No one is innocent but who is guilty of murder?  

Death Was Not on the Guest List is a fun murder mystery.  I was kept guessing and loved getting to know the characters as the story went on.  I had guesses, I tried so hard to follow the clues, but I was no match for Ginevra and Edith.  

The Chicago setting is perfect.  The snowstorm was depicted perfectly; those Midwest storms are brutal.  The 1920’s is an era of knowing the right people and keeping up appearances, all found perfectly in the book.

My Thoughts:  I am not sure what to say about this book.   I love the idea, a manny (male nanny) comes to town.  He has no ties to the town and is just looking to work.   As the story goes on, more is revealed and secrets are let out. I was increasingly hooked on the story. 

The characters are diverse and unique.  We have the top tier rich, hanging out at The Club next to the working class that are there just to serve that top tier.   I never really connected with any of the characters, I do not think any of them were overly likable.   I felt the characters being not likable is part of the reason this book worked for me.   I never wanted to become attached because I knew there was more to every single character.

The Lake Club is a fun summer thriller.  I enjoyed the story and was entertained while reading it.
