Author: Karla Sorensen
Genre: Sports Romance
Release Date: January 7, 2020
Cover Design: Najla Qamber Designs

If you've ever seen your teenage crush ten years later, and he turns out to be a complete jerk, then you know how Molly Ward feels.
The last time she saw Noah Griffin was the regrettable day that she decided to climb into his bedroom window and turn her unrequited crush into something more.
That day was bad enough, but things are about to get worse.
Noah has become one of the best football players in the country, and he’s just landed on Molly’s front step.
As a new addition to the Washington Wolves roster, Noah's presence is the key to Molly’s promotion in the front office.
The problem is, Noah wants nothing to do with Molly, and his surly attitude is making her job very difficult.
But he's got another thing coming if he thinks Molly will be intimidated by one grumpy football player, no matter how much he hates being around her.
Once these two go head to head, their mutual dislike explodes into undeniable chemistry. But with what they have at stake, they just might detonate everything else along with it.

Well, let’s see ... I’m a wife and a mother. If the things that I write bring a smile to someone's face, then I've done my job. I am obsessed with Outlander (both the books and the show). I’m almost exclusively a romance reader, which means some people will never consider me a literary snob. If I could meet one historical figure, it would be Jane Austen. I received my Bachelors in Public Relations and worked in health care marketing before I had my babies. I hate Twitter. I do it, but I hate it. Also, if you want to get on my good side, bring me wine and I'll love you forever.

For the month of December, I am going to post about some of my favorite books, favorite authors, and books I just can't forget about.    These are all books I'd recommend purchasing for Christmas gifts or for your own enjoyment.

Jen Gilroy's is an author that I look for when I am feeling a sweet and easy to read book.    Her settings are marvelous, her characters are wonderful, and the storylines are perfect.    She writes stories about families that are realistic and it is so easy to find yourself falling into their stories.

Her newest series starts with The Wishing Tree and I am excited to share that there is more from this series coming in 2020.

My Thoughts…
This small-town story is perfect.   The amazing characters, the wonderful setting, and the beautiful families all made me fall into The Wishing Tree and never want to leave.    The characters were not perfect, they had their problems but they also had incredible families/friends that support them when it was needed.
Seth is finding an entirely different life than what he left behind.   Irish Falls is his second chance at life.   While he doesn’t expect to like or stay in Irish Falls, he finds a family he didn’t know that he was missing.   Seth also finds Annie.  Annie opens his eyes to all a small town can offer and she also opens his heart to the love he didn’t know he was looking for.
Jen Gilroy wrote a wonderful book.  The family, friends, forgiveness, and love are all things that I love about her books.  I would certainly recommend this book.

My Thoughts…

Oh, how I wish I lived at Firefly Lake.   I want to be friends with Cat and Luc.   I want to be part of that amazing McGuire family.     The friendships, the families, and their relationships in this town are truly special.   The way they stand up for each other, protect each other, and go to the ends of the earth to help each other is amazing.

Cat is an amazing mom.   Being a single mom is hard and rewarding.   Cat has decided to make Amy her whole world and has no time for a boyfriend.  Until she is reunited with Luc, her high school friend that she has always had a crush on, then feelings start to come around.    Yet, she has to figure out how to work a boyfriend into her life and not upset the careful balance she has.

Luc has history he has to deal with.    He is a widow, losing his wife while he was on the road with the NHL.     He doesn’t talk about it, he never forgets, and he doesn’t know how to move past it.   He doesn’t know how to open his heart and learn how to love again.

Everything about this book is wonderful, from the friendships to the families and the relationships all the way around.  I love the setting of Firefly Lake and the history of the town.    The rest of this series is one that I cannot wait to get my hands on.

My Thoughts...
Summer at Firefly Lake is a story of second chances.    Mia needs a second chance from a controlling, cheating, loveless husband and Nick needs a second chance from a cheating marriage and bad role model father.    Neither of them were looking for each other, yet they had been in each other’s sights forever.   The chemistry was slow, worth the wait, and real.   Both characters fought the attraction, took steps to avoid falling in love yet love won out.

The small town setting was wonderful.   The all knowing mother, the neighbors who know all your secrets and the gossip that spread like wild fire is exactly how every small town is.    Jen Gilroy did a great job portraying the small town and bringing it to life.       I could picture the quaint diner, the beautiful lake with the diving platform, and the wonderful cabins surrounding it.      Firefly Lake is somewhere I’d love to visit again and again.

I would recommend picking up your own copy of Summer at Firefly Lake and falling into this wonderful story full of small town charm.

Jen Gilroy lives in a small town in eastern Ontario, Canada where her Irish ancestors settled in the nineteenth century. She's worked in higher education and international marketing but, after spending too much time in airports and away from her family, traded the 9-5 to write romantic women’s fiction to bring readers' hearts home.
Jen likes ice cream, diners, vintage style and all things country. Her husband is her real-life romance hero, and her teen daughter teaches her to cherish the blessings in the everyday.
The Cottage at Firefly Lake, the first book in her Firefly Lake series, was a finalist for Romance Writers of America’s Golden Heart® award in 2015. It was also shortlisted for the Romantic Novelists’ Association Joan Hessayon Award 2017.

Exclusive Excerpt:

“You catching that?” Jase asked, his focus returning to the poster and the tape. “Catching what?” Heather replied. Poster in hand, he moved to the front window and pressed it against the glass, smoothing it before turning back to her. “Catching the little buzz we have going on between us.” “A little… the thing is…” C’mon Heather, be strong. You are the cookie lady now. You don’t date. You are all you need. That’s what the podcast she’d been listening to said to her over and over again. Mantra in hand, she slapped on her I’m-in-charge-here-buddy mask. “It would never work between us.” The edges of his lips ticked up ever so slightly. “You can’t know that.” Oh, she knew. He sauntered toward her. Unwilling to back down, she stepped toward him. Expression firm, she said, “I can already see exactly how this whole thing would play out if we let it. You’d start with a horrible pick up line.” “Guilty.” His hands fell to the belt loops of his jeans. Her palm itched to press against the front of his tee, but she refrained. “Then I’d counter with a witty response. This time my reply would be even better. Funny, intelligent…everything.” “Now, that I’d like to hear.” Nothing but a foot of crackling air sizzled between them. “Trust me, if I had said it, it would have been epic. You can’t repeat something like that. It has to happen in the moment.” She shook her head, the sleek ponytail she’d carefully arranged earlier brushing against the collar of her jacket. “That right there is why we wouldn’t have worked out. I mean you couldn’t even come up with a snappier reply.” He crossed his arms, the little veins of his muscled forearms flexing with the motion. “Oh, I would’ve. It would’ve been the best response in the history of pick-up line replies.” “I don’t believe you.” The glimmer in his eyes lit up his entire face. He was clearly enjoying this exchange entirely too much. Control. She needed the power back. “Trust would’ve always been one of your issues in our relationship.” “Maybe you just couldn’t be honest with me about how you felt. That’s probably why we would have always argued.” He raised his eyebrows in a clear ultimatum. Challenge accepted. She stepped the tiniest bit closer to him. “Let’s say you threw out that awful line again. The one about taking me out.” “I’m with you so far.” He glanced down to the floor in clear acknowledgment of her movement forward, but he held his ground. “We’d banter for a good bit—” His face sparked with humor. “Sounds about right.” “Both of us would get that tingly feeling of attraction. You know the one.” So maybe she made her voice a little breathier than usual. Sue her. His mouth parted, the exaggerated fullness of his lower lip apparent. “You have a tingly feeling?” She shook her head and raised a hand. Not touching his chest like she desperately wanted to but getting within millimeters. “That’s not the important part. Eventually you would convince me to go on a date.” “I’d take you to this great taco stand. I love tacos.” “Despite that, I’d probably let you take me out again. And again,” she said, not willing to acknowledge the way she wanted to nip at his lip with her teeth. He nodded. “I’m digging this relationship so far.” “Eventually, you’d ask me to move in. I’d say no. You’d pressure me, even though I wouldn’t be ready.” “What can I say? I wouldn’t want to spend a night away from you. No use paying for two apartments.” She shrugged, dropping her hand. “I’d cave, and we’d finally move in together—” “Do we get to hook up first? Don’t skip that part.” This time he moved forward. Not a lot, just a smidge. She stayed put. She refused to back up first. “Of course. It would be awful. Sorry Speed Racer, but I need more than three minutes of go-time.” “That’s not what you’d say after you screamed my name.” He leaned forward, the whisper of his words brushing against her ear. God, there wasn’t but a breath of space between them. She was all turned-on Heather, ready to throw her why-have-a-man-when-you-can-have-cookies resolve away. His breath smelled of cinnamon candy and coffee, turning her knees effectively to melted butter. No, she stopped herself. Back to the break-up at hand.

Once Upon a Christmas

Is it ever too late for happily ever after...?

Callahan is one of the hottest guys to move into Harper’s Corner in a long time, partly because he’s also a complete mystery.

He keeps to himself and leads a quiet life, rumors swirl around that he used to be in the military...but no one knows where he came from, or what brought him to their small town.

When Stevie’s parents have a health crisis, she’s forced to take leave from her very New York existence: including a high-powered job at a big publishing house and explosive sex life with her wealthy, handsome and appropriately pretentious boyfriend, to step in and ensure the preservation of the family’s longstanding bookstore.

With the first order of business being to fire Callahan, the unqualified shop assistant her dad hired.

Though as many women from Harper’s Corner can tell you, things change when you come back home.

So firing this attractive, brooding, secretive man turns out to be much harder than she originally planned…

And when his past comes back to challenge him, he can’t keep hiding from what happened.

A Nanny for Christmas

Willa O’Rourke knows the true story, the story that doesn’t sell magazines.

In less than 8 hours Willa went from being a behind-the-scenes nanny for one of the hottest A-list celebrity couples, to having her picture splashed all over every magazine in the country.

Caught in the arms of her sexy employer, Johnny Blaze.

No one cares that Johnny hit on her, and she repeatedly told him no.

The world thinks Willa O’Rourke is more interesting as the slutty, home-wrecking, opportunistic nanny. She even has a hashtag trending on Twitter. #dirtynanny

Humiliated and desperate to get away from the harsh eyes of Hollywood, she decides to take a short break from her suddenly not so glamorous life and head home for the holidays.

But a quiet Christmas to recoup before heading back to LA wasn’t in the cards.

She immediately runs into Jack, her seriously hot, fireman ex-boyfriend.

Despite Willa’s attempts to keep a low profile, she and Jack are thrown together for a Christmas charity project -- making her wonder if she’s meant for a simpler life in Harper’s Corner after all.

About Christina George
I’ve worked in publishing for twenty years and I sincerely love books and authors. I started this journey with my own books planning to write just one, and then well – all I can say is the stories kept coming. My original series The Publicist, follows Kate, Mac, Nick, Vivienne and a host of other awesome characters as they make their lives in New York, amidst the chaos that publishing often brings with it.
I am now exploring a fictional small town called Harper’s Corner. This series is so fun, because there are so many characters in this town, from sexy firemen and hot Army guys, to an awesome group of women that I affectionally call “the coven.” These books will explore each of these characters, and their journey to finding the loves of their lives.
I love writing, and I love reading and if I’m not actively writing a book, I’m probably dreaming of what I’ll write next.
