Lynda Renham is a UK author that I've read 15 of her books.   With each book, I meet quirky and fun characters.   Many times they find themselves in unique situations and use unique ways to get themselves out of those situations.   I am not going to share all of her books below but I recommend reading them all.

Guest book review by Carly Louise Wilson

Vanish is the sixth book in the Ball and Chain series by John Mefford. Before I began this series I was not one to pick up a thriller or a suspense book, always assuming that they wouldn’t be ‘my type of books’. With that in mind, I had not expected to embark upon this series, and the more I read about Willow Ball and Cooper chain, the more i am kept on the edge of my seat, rapidly page-turning whilst trying to get to the end for the real twists.

Vanish is an excellent addition to the series, it continues with the mystery of Willow’s father, and how she entrusts a stranger in an attempt to gain answers. However, all is not what it seems. Cooper is beside himself, unsure of what to do without Willow, and shocked to find her gone leaving only a note. But it’s not long before he’s on the hunt to track her down, but like all of Mefford’s books, it’s not without drama, action and some unexpected twists and turns.

It is a perfect read for anyone who loves fast-paced books, and loves action/thriller/suspense books. It has really changed my mind about the genre, and I am always recommending this series to family and friends.

You will devour this book if you're a fan of Michael Connelly's Ballard and Bosch, David Baldacci's King and Maxwell, Tess Gerritsen's Rizzoli and Isles, Janet Evanovich's Fox and O'Hare, Stuart Woods, or the TV show "Castle."

My Thoughts…

Little Women is the book that started my love of reading.   My Mema and Bepa gave me a copy and I read it until it was falling apart.    Meg and Jo is the contemporary retelling of Little Women.    I could not pass on this book.

Jo was always my favorite.   She is the oldest, in charge, and her daddy’s girl.     She is still my favorite.   I love her spunk, her going into the unknown, and how she grew up to be strong woman.   Yes, she comes home after a tough situation and she struggles to not let it get her down.    She grows while she is home into a stronger, open hearted, and willing to accept help person all while finding happiness that she didn’t know she was craving.

Meg, oh Meg.  You are so reliable.  She takes on the world, does everything for everyone, and doesn’t accept any help from anyone.    As the story goes on we see her struggle to keep up with her day to day life while adding more and more to it as the rest of the family needs help.    I love when she realizes that accepting help doesn’t mean she is less of a mom or a wife or a sister.    She becomes a complete and wonderful woman as the story goes on.   

If you are a Little Women fan, you have to read this book.   I am so excited to read Amy and Beth’s story.

For the month of December, I am going to post about some of my favorite books, favorite authors, and books I just can't forget about.    These are all books I'd recommend purchasing for Christmas gifts or for your own enjoyment.  

Today I'd like to share some of Melissa Foster's amazing books.   Her male characters are hot, steamy, sexy, and oh so loving.   They treasure their families and friends and worship their wives/girlfriends.    The female characters are so strong and self-sufficient that they don't really need a man in their lives but when they find the one that is willing to stand beside them their hearts go all in.

Melissa Foster is also my go-to audiobook author.   She finds the best narrators and I find myself falling into the voices of the characters that I feel like I already know from reading their stories. 

The first two books are coming in 2020 but there are entire families to read about that are already available.    

Making You Mine – The Bradens & Montgomerys (Pleasant Hill – Oak Falls)

"You're not seriously going to listen to them," I said flatly. "What else can I do?" "Becks, beware the dark side." "What's that supposed to mean?" "It's a Yoda-ism," I said, "and you know exactly what it means. Becks, have you no shame?" "Nope," he said, lifting the jersey over his head in one swift pull, causing a mixture of applause, screaming and appreciative sighs. I shook my head, struggling to keep my eyes north of his jaw line. "What can I say, Sal?" he said, backing away. "It's like that line from that show Oklahoma. I'm just a guy who can't say no." Flicking his jersey at one of the cheerleaders, he hot footed it out to center field, grinning all the while. He gave a frowning Coach Crenshaw a swat to the backside, and then the team got down to business. I wrote down Becks's quote, making a side note to include it in my next article, while the girl who'd caught Becks's jersey gripped the shirt to her heart and pretended to faint. At least, I hoped it was pretend.
