One Last Risk by Nancy Stopper

Projected Release Date: April 18th, 2017
Editor: Theresa Cole
Proofreader: Lynn Mullan

A guilt-drive firefighter, a widowed mother, neither is ready for love, but love has other plans.
Firefighter Lucas Bennett had the carefree life he’d always wanted until a deadly blaze took the life of his company mate and best friend. Blaming himself was easy but pulling himself from the tailspin of guilt proved to be much harder. The fog of sadness and guilt pushed him down a dangerous path until he nearly died fighting the beast. Forced to stop and reevaluate his life, he decided to make a change before it was too late.

A fire took almost everything from Sarah Robinson—her husband and her home—leaving her to raise their precious daughter alone. Everywhere she looked held memories of her husband, pouring salt on her ever-present wound. Unable to live any longer around the memories of her husband, she and her daughter moved to Oak Grove, far away from the grief of the past. All Sarah needed was the chance to start a new life for her and her daughter.

A car accident on a dark, rainy night put Lucas and Sarah on a collision course neither of them expected… with questions they’re not ready to answer. Can a single mother open her broken heart for a second chance at love? Will a broken firefighter risk his heart for what might be his only chance at forever? Are each of them willing to take one last risk to be together? His risk. Her reward. Together, they’ll mend each other's broken hearts.

If you like small-town romance where the heroes are sexy and the women are strong, unlock One Last Risk to start your visit to Oak Grove, Pennsylvania and fall in love with Lucas and Sarah!

My Thoughts…

Two people who have both lost almost everything in a fire have a chance meeting at the local bakery.    The attraction was immediate, the sparks were obvious, yet they were both cautious.   Neither were looking for a relationship and both had demons to fight.

I really liked that they didn’t just fall into bed.   They worked up to it, they dated, they got to know each other, and they included Sarah’s daughter into their relationship.    It was interesting to see them circle each other, sneak around a little, and figure out how to make a relationship with a child involved work.

The little town of Oak Grove was amazing.   The cobblestone walks, the cottages, the one truck fire stations are all parts of a small town.   Nancy Stopper did a wonderful job of portraying this cute town.   Oak Grove is a place where everyone knows everyone and there are no secrets.   I could picture living here with Lucas and Sarah.

Thank you Nancy Stopper for a copy of the book in exchange for a honest review.

Any Day Now (Sullivan's Crossing #2) by Robyn Carr

Hardcover, 384 pages
Expected publication: April 18th 2017 by Mira Books (first published April 4th 2017)
Any Day Now is the highly anticipated sequel to #1 New York Times bestselling author Robyn Carr's What We Find. Readers fell in love with Sullivan's Crossing and the characters who settled there and will be delighted to spend time with their favorite people again. The rustic campground at the crossroads of the Colorado and Continental Divide Trails welcomes everyone—whether you're looking for a weekend getaway or a new lease on life.

My Thoughts…

Robyn Carr has talent.   She takes a small town in Colorado and turns it into a family.   Sullivan’s Crossing is a place where people come to experience Colorado and never want to leave or at least I didn’t want to leave, EVER.

The storyline is wonderful.    There is characters that are not perfect which makes them real.    The issues they have are issues that many people deal with every day.    The friendships they have are not perfect but they are the same friendships that I have with my friends.    The families are supportive, open with their love, and accepting of each other.     This may seem like it is too perfect but it wasn’t.

Sierra is a recovering alcoholic who has a secret in her past that she is trying to out run.    She runs to Sullivan’s Crossing and her brother to keep a low profile.   Yet, she meets Connie and everything she thought she wanted and needed changes.   Connie, aka Conrad, shakes up her world making her feel things that she hasn’t felt in forever.    There were times I felt like their relationship was one sided with Conrad providing a ton of support while Sierra was so focused on herself that she took it for granted but then I realized that most relationships have those bumps that are one sided and it will flip back and forth as to who is supporting who more as the relationship moves forward.

I definitely recommend picking up your own copy of Any Day Now and falling in love with the characters of Sullivan’s Crossing.

Broken Wolf by Stacy Claflin

Kindle Edition
Published March 31st 2017
The wolf essence stone—finding it could free werewolves from the curse of the moon. Or it could kill them all.

Victoria has burned with “the fever” to find the stone since hearing about it. Hundreds of werewolves before her have died in the quest. That legacy doesn’t deter her, though. She’s willing to risk anything to find the stone and break the curse that forces them to shift every full moon. Her obsession compels her to travel to Iceland, where she feels the stone calling to her. Pulling her toward it. If only she knew the ancient evil residing inside.

Toby fears the changes in his beloved Victoria. He sets out to find the one person who might be able to help—Soleil, a Valkyrie with incredible power and vast knowledge about essence stones. But even she may not be enough to stop the carnage Victoria is about to set loose on the world.

Victoria has a strong connection to both the stone and danger behind it. Will she be able to end the curse of the moon, or will the stone destroy them all?

USA Today bestselling author, Stacy Claflin, brings you Broken Wolf, the fourth book in the Curse of the Moon series. It’s a paranormal romantic suspense saga that features gripping supernatural drama, surprising twists, dynamic characters, and heart-pounding romance. For the best reading experience, follow the series in order.

Read Broken Wolf today to satisfy your craving for a fast-paced paranormal tale.

My thoughts…

Broken Wolf is the fourth book in the Curse of the Moon series.    With this series the reader has to start at the beginning to truly enjoy and follow the storyline.     The good news is that you can now read the first four books right away in order.    I devoured them all.

In Broken Wolf Toby an d Victoria are finally due to get married.   Of course, in true Stacy Claflin style it does not go quite as planned.    Victoria is obsessed with the Wolf  Essence Stone.    The risks she takes, the schemes she follows, and the need to find the stone becomes her reason for living.       Toby sees the danger Victoria keeps putting herself in and does everything in his power to protect her.

Stacy Claflin did an amazing job of telling the story.   She wove in the love with the story of mystery surrounding the Wolf Essence Stone.    Would the stone solve the shifting issues the wolves have been experiencing?     The story had twists, turns, love, and romance.     There were secrets revealed about the paranormals in the book that intrigue me.    I can’t wait to read more about this amazing pack.

One Perfect Lie by Lisa Scottoline

Hardcover, 384 pages
Expected publication: April 11th 2017 by St. Martin's Press
On paper, Chris Brennan looks perfect. He's applying for a job as a high school government teacher, he's ready to step in as an assistant baseball coach, and his references are impeccable.

But everything about Chris Brennan is a lie.

Susan Sematov is proud of her son Raz, a high school pitcher so athletically talented that he's being recruited for a full-ride scholarship to a Division I college, with a future in major-league baseball. But Raz’s father died only a few months ago, leaving her son in a vulnerable place where any new father figure might influence him for good, or evil.

Heather Larkin is a struggling single mother who lives for her son Jordan's baseball games. But Jordan is shy, and Heather fears he is being lured down a dark path by one of his teammates, a young man from an affluent family whose fun-loving manner might possibly conceal his violent plans.

Mindy Kostis succumbs to the pressure of being a surgeon's wife by filling her days with social events and too many gin and tonics. But she doesn’t know that her husband and her son, Evan, are keeping secrets from her – secrets that might destroy all of them.

At the center of all of them is Chris Brennan. Why is he there? What does he want? And what is he willing to do to get it?

Enthralling and suspenseful,
One Perfect Lie is an emotional thriller and a suburban crime story that will have readers riveted up to the shocking end, with killer twists and characters you won’t soon forget.

My Thoughts…

Oh my…   Lisa Scottoline may have just written my favorite book so far.   The twists, turns, the secrets, and the suspense all kept me on the edge of my seat.    She wove a plot thick with cover-ups, friendships, and family in a setting that could be Anytown, USA.    The reader is able to relate to the characters, feel the fear of those in the know, and hope that the hero will be able to solve the puzzle before time runs out.     One Perfect Lie is an amazing psychological thriller.

I enjoyed how book was written in three parts.   Step One is the introduction to Chris Brennan.   You learn who he is or who he wants you to believe he is.   Step Two is where the twists and turns start in and you find out there is more to the story than you original thought.     Step Three it all comes together.    The action starts and the story comes to a head.

One Perfect Lie is fast-paced and thrilling.    Lisa Scottoline has a talent for writing psychological thrillers.    I highly recommend picking up your own copy soon.

Thank you John Karle for providing me a copy of the book for an honest review.

Gone Without A Trace by Mary Torjussen

Kindle Edition, 352 pages
Published November 3rd 2016 by Headline

No one ever disappears completely...
You leave for work one morning. Another day in your normal life. Until you come home to discover that your boyfriend has gone.

His belongings have disappeared. He hasn't been at work for weeks. It's as if he never existed. But that's not possible, is it? And there is worse still to come. Because just as you are searching for
him someone is also watching you.

My Thoughts…

This book had me clueless.   I was so invested in finding Matt that I couldn’t follow the clues to find out why he left or who was stalking Hannah.    I felt sorry for Hannah, there were times I thought she was going to make herself crazy.      Without giving away the story, I will mention that there are so many characters that were not trustable that I knew that Hannah should not trust anyone yet everyone needs friends and support in a situation like she was going through.

I am trying very hard not to giveaway anything…and there is so much to giveaway.   The twists, the turns, the ups and down were all so gripping.     While reading I could feel there might be more to the story yet I couldn’t wrap my head around what it could be.      The clues were given, the outcome hinted at, yet I missed it.     This is not a bad thing that I missed it, for me it made me read the book longer, faster, and without stopping to get the answers that I wanted.

Gone Without A Trace is a psychological thriller that I recommend reading.

Crash and Burn: The Walker Brothers Book 1 by Amanda Adams

Date of Publication: April 6, 2017

Blurb

A childhood promise has Chance Walker picking up a guitar once again. He hires sexy Erin Michaelson to bring music back into his life. She's one of the most intriguing women he's ever met.

When he sees her again, she's on stage using another name and seducing an entire audience. A single, sizzling backstage kiss will change both of their lives forever. Chance soon realizes that Erin is not just an itch, she's an obsession that he refuses to live without.

My Thoughts...

Crash and Burn is the first book in The Walker Brothers Series and I cannot wait for more.    Chance Walker is the first brother to get his story and the other's deserve their story also.   I cannot wait for their stories.

Erin and Chance are perfect for each other.    They both love their music but there is more to their relationship than that.    I could not deny the heat, the attraction, and the love between them but I enjoyed seeing them interact with each other outside of the sexy side.    The guitar lessons, the conversations, and the true relationship are what I found myself falling farther into the story.   I became invested in Erin and Chance not only being together but also being happy together.

This book is fun, easy, sexy, and heated.    There are scenes that are steamy and scenes that are sweet.   Erin and Chance are a fun couple that I can't wait to catch up with in future Walker Brother books.

About Amanda Adams

Amanda Adams fell in love with books at a very early age. Her earliest memories are of sitting on her mother's lap reading Cinderella and Snow White and Rose Red over, and over, and over again until she had them memorized –- she was too young to know the alphabet.
Amanda started writing stories in big, sloppy handwriting in a wide-rule notebook when she was bored, during class (of course) in the fifth grade. Her favorite stories always include excitement, adventure and a handsome hero guaranteed to sweep her off her feet.
Amanda lives in beautiful Colorado with her husband (her high-school sweetheart who proved the reality of "love at first sight") and three teenagers whom she reminds, repeatedly… "If it's not in my phone, it's not happening," because her mind is oh-so-often far away living a fairy tale. (That's code for – if an alarm doesn't go off, she forgets to pick up her kids from school…)

Destined for Love AUDIOBOOK by Melissa Foster

Destined for Love: Love in Bloom, Volume 5 (The Bradens, Book 2)

·         Narrated by: B.J. Harrison
·         Length: 8 hrs
o    Series: The Bradens, Book 2
o    Series: Love in Bloom, Book 5 Unabridged Audiobook

A long standing family feud is keeping Rex Braden and Jade Johnson from the happy ending they both deserve and want. Rex’s dad and Jade’s dad grew up as best friends and continued that friendship into adult life. Then one day it all fell apart and they no longer would even acknowledge each other. The rules were set to the kids of the Johnson and Braden families to not have ANY contact with the other family. But love comes flying above the feud. Rex and Jade have circled around each other since they were teenagers, now as adults they cannot keep their feelings in check. Their hope is that their families will come together and support each other, or their only option will be to move out of their hometown so they can find the happy ever after they need.

My Thoughts…

Destined for Love is book 5 of 9 in the Love In Bloom series. I cannot say it is my favorite, since I have loved each of the stories for their own tale, but it is definitely one of them.

Rex is hot from the minute he is introduced to the reader in Book One of the Bradens stories and I could not wait to know what would come of him. I knew and hoped that his true love would come riding in and turn his life upside down. My favorite part of this story is certainly the hot and steamy scenes where there were no holds barred and the love and sexiness shined between Rex and Jade. But this story also showed how two adults, who love their respective families, can stand up to their fathers and make them realize that they had made mistakes and that forgiving was part of living in order to be able to live their lives together.

I easily give this book five stars, more if that is possible. There are some extremely sexy and hot scenes that are not suitable for all readers. Once you start reading Destined for Love you will not be able to put it down. I highly recommend you read all the books in this series, but it is not necessary to enjoy this book.
