When We Fall by Emily Liebert

Ready for a fresh start, Allison Parker moves back to her hometown in the suburbs of New York. While she’d once savored the dynamic pace of city life, sadly, it lost its allure after her husband’s untimely death. Now, ready to focus on her art career accompanied by her ten-year-old son, Logan, Allison doesn’t anticipate that her past will resurface. When the wife of her husband’s best friend from summer camp takes her under her wing, things begin to spin out of control.

At one time, Charlotte Crane thought she had it all—a devoted husband, a beautiful little girl, and enough financial security to never have to worry. But behind her perfect facade lie a strained marriage and a fractured relationship with her sister. When new girl Allison arrives in Wincourt, Charlotte welcomes the chance to build a friendship. Before long, Charlotte begins to see her life through Allison’s eyes, and the cracks in her seemingly flawless existence become impossible to ignore.

As Allison heals from the loss of her husband—even wondering if she might be ready to date again—Charlotte feels more distant from her loved ones than ever before. The emerging friendship between the two women appears to be just the antidote both of them so desperately need...until everything falls apart.

My Thoughts….

When We Fall is the story of two women who are living in the same town, the same circle of friends, and are friends with each other and both want to be happy again.   They each live their lives differently.   One, Charlotte, is living her life the way everyone else thinks her life should be lived.  She has the right clothes, the right house, and all the right friends.    Charlotte was a character that I could see the good in.  She wanted to be friends and not be catty but did not know how to do it without making herself alienated from her friends.    The other, Allison, is returning to her hometown.   She wants to make friends, but is not the backstabbing woman that others are in the town.     Allison was the woman that I hope I am and that I want as a friend.   Money and stature were not important to her, she was thankful for what she had but not envious or jealous of what her friends had.

Emily Liebert is an author I know will always tug at my heart and get me deeply involved in every story she tells.    She is an author that I trust to entertain me and keep reading deep into the night and early in the morning.     I always will recommend her to a friend looking for a great chic-lit story.   When We Fall has moved to the top of my list of books to recommend.
