It's summer and that means it's time to go back to Magnolia Sound! Get your copy of SINCE YOU'VE BEEN GONE by Samantha Chase and finds out what happens when a sexy Instagram-famous vet teams up with his childhood crush to save her family's animal rescue!
About SINCE YOU'VE BEEN GONE
Emmaline Ryan has always been the smart, shy girl who plays it safe. But all that’s gotten her is a divorce and a mountain of debt to pay off courtesy of her ex-husband. Needless to say, she’s stopped believing in miracles and fairy tales a long time ago. Except now she’s in desperate need of one those miracles if she wants to save her family’s animal rescue. Emmaline knows just where to go for help, but that means putting her faith in the hands of the man who once broke her heart without even realizing it.
Garrett Coleman met the girl of his dreams when he was just eight years old – only, he never told her. But that was years ago. Now, Garrett has become a reluctant social media star – the shirtless #HotDoc and #SexyVet who saves scared and helpless animals. Sure, it’s been great for business, but he’d give anything for people to see the real him, preferably with a shirt on. When a visit home to Magnolia Sound has him running into the shy girl he left behind, he sees his chance at the future he never thought he deserved.
Unfortunately, he’s not the only one back in town, and wooing Emmaline just became a lot more complicated. A lot has changed since he’s been gone and Garrett is going to have to prove that he’s up to the challenge. Emmaline might still be the sweet and quiet girl he left behind, but he’s not sure she willing to wait.
My Thoughts… I have
been a fan of Samantha Chase for a while, and I love visiting Magnolia
Sound. The characters are familiar, the
friendships are real, and their stories are fun, sweet, and sexy.
As long-time friends, Garrett and Emmaline have always kept
it platonic. Emmaline had no idea that
Garrett had feelings for her and was to shy to act on them. Until now, they are brought back together
with their lives in upheaval. They
naturally fit together, they know each other’s secrets, their histories, and
their dreams. Together they build each
other up, offer advice without judgement, and open their hearts to a
future. I loved seeing them come
together, love each other, and keep their friendship true.
The Magnolia Sound is one of my favorite series by Samantha
Chase. I look forward to visiting there
with each book in the series, meeting new characters, and reconnecting with
some of my favorites.

Berkley Books
Genre:Historical Fiction, Books about Books, New York, Literary Fiction
From Goodreads…The
remarkable, little-known story of Belle da Costa Greene, J. P. Morgan's
personal librarian--who became one of the most powerful women in New York
despite the dangerous secret she kept in order to make her dreams come true,
from New York Times bestselling author Marie Benedict and
acclaimed author Victoria Christopher Murray.
In her twenties, Belle da Costa Greene is hired by J. P. Morgan to curate a
collection of rare manuscripts, books, and artwork for his newly built Pierpont
Morgan Library. Belle becomes a fixture on the New York society scene and one
of the most powerful people in the art and book world, known for her impeccable
taste and shrewd negotiating for critical works as she helps build a
world-class collection.
But Belle has a secret, one she must protect at all costs. She was born not
Belle da Costa Greene but Belle Marion Greener. She is the daughter of Richard
Greener, the first Black graduate of Harvard and a well-known advocate for
equality. Belle's complexion isn't dark because of her alleged Portuguese
heritage that lets her pass as white--her complexion is dark because she is African
American.
The Personal Librarian tells the story of an extraordinary woman,
famous for her intellect, style, and wit, and shares the lengths to which she
must go--for the protection of her family and her legacy--to preserve her
carefully crafted white identity in the racist world in which she lives.
About Marie
Benedict… Marie Benedict is a lawyer with more than ten years' experience
as a litigator at two of the country's premier law firms, who found her calling
unearthing the hidden historical stories of women. Her mission is to excavate

bring them into the light of present-day where we can finally perceive the
breadth of their contributions as well as the insights they bring to modern day
issues. She embarked on a new, thematically connected series of historical
novels with THE OTHER EINSTEIN, which tells the tale of Albert Einstein's first
wife, a physicist herself, and the role she might have played in his theories.
The next novel in this series is the USA Today bestselling CARNEGIE'S MAID --
which released in January of 2018 -- and the book that followed is the New York
Times bestseller and Barnes & Noble Book Club Pick THE ONLY WOMAN IN THE
ROOM, the story of the brilliant inventor Hedy Lamarr, which published in

In Royal Service to the Queen: A Novel
of the Queen's Governess byTessa Arlen
Paperback, 368 pages
Publication: June 29th 2021 by Berkley Books
Genre:Historical Fiction, Queen Elizabeth, British Literature
From Goodreads...The revealing
story of Queen Elizabeth II's beloved governess, Marion Crawford, who spent
more than sixteen years of her life in loyal service to the royal family and
was later shunned by those she has loved and served.
Marion Crawford can remember each of the wonderful years when she was governess
to the little Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret Rose: included in their lives,
confided in, needed, trusted, and loved. These memories will never dim, ever. In
Marion's mind, she will always be their Crawfie.
But things become increasingly complicated as the young royals navigate
adulthood. It is May 1945 and Princess Elizabeth--the heiress presumptive to
the British throne--has fallen in love, and the only member of her family who
is happy for her is her governess. No one in the young princess's life thinks
that Prince Philip of Greece would be a suitable husband for the future Queen
of England. No one that is, except for Marion Crawford.
Over the next two years Crawfie is caught between loyalty to Princess
Elizabeth; running the risk of alienating her royal employer, Queen Elizabeth;
and losing the man she loves. But as Crawfie prevails to marry George and
stands with him in Westminster Abbey on Elizabeth and Philip's wedding day, she
is unaware that her troubled relationship with Queen Elizabeth is far from
over. And just around the corner is a betrayal that will sever her bond with
the royal family forever.
My Thoughts…I am a
historical fiction junkie.I read
almost everything historical that I can get my hands on so when I heard about
Marion Crawford I was intrigued.I have
read much about the Queen but did not know anything about the governess.I knew that this was a book that I had to read.
When she choses
to tell the princesses story she does not know how the royals will react. With their reaction she is shocked and
heartbroken but knows that she did not do anything wrong. The Queen was able to edit what she wrote
and still “allowed” it to be released.I enjoyed seeing Marion come into her own and stand up for herself. Her life was not easy, but she found a way
to get the happy ever after that she deserved.

Meet Tessa
Arlen…When Tessa was asked why she chose to write historical fiction
she admitted that history was the only subject in her English boarding school,
apart from literature, that held any genuine interest or that she was
particularly good at. She admits that she was a terrible student: a real
day-dreamer!
Her father was
a career diplomat which meant the family lived everywhere—until Tessa was nine
and sent back to England for a ‘proper’ education. The contrast between her
boarding school at the top of a windy hill in the Chilterns with its drafty
dormitories and frightful food was a stark one compared to her earlier life in
the vivid warmth of the tropics. She was in such culture shock she simply
disappeared into her own world for four years; rescued from complete academic
disaster by her history teacher, Elfreda, Lady Neale. Tessa recalls that Lady
Neale was a strange old lady: “She was tall and rather stooped with straight
iron-gray hair. She spoke in such a low tone we had difficulty hearing her, and
would crane forward in our seats. She certainly made those ancient centuries
live for us! She was very fond of telling us that history was simply ‘very old
gossip.'” Tessa has been a fascinated amateur historian ever since.

Title: Rock Me
Author: MJ Roberts
Genre: Rockstar Romance
Release Date: August 3rd
About Rock Me:
Betrayed by his family after serving time for a crime he didn’t commit, Spider’s angry at the world. The only solace he finds is playing his guitar. He’s fine, he’s good, and if anyone dares suggest otherwise, he’ll pull his knife on you, just to prove a point.Maria’s devoted to her family and her dream. But when she’s forced to hide from some bad guys intent on torturing her for information she doesn’t possess, she’s forced to run — straight into Spider’s arms. They’re on the road with the tour that will make or break Spider’s career — and his heart.
Maria's cooking again. She's wearing a tan tank top that fits her like a second skin. She's kneading dough. She's not putting any muscle into it though."At that rate, it's going to take you all afternoon." I push off the side of my bunk and stand close behind her. "First of all, you need more flour on your hands."I rub more flour on her palms and her breath catches.“You’re going to teach me how to cook?”“This? Yes.”I place my hands on top of hers. Like every time we’re close, sexual tension springs up between us."First,” I say, “you start from the side farthest away." My head was to the right of hers, but I move it to the other side and place my lips a hair's breadth from the shell of her ear. "Then you bring that closer and closer to you." I take our joined hands and push hard into the center of the dough. "Heel of the palm. Don't be afraid to be rough. Put some force behind it."I don’t think she realizes it, but her rib cage lifts slightly, like she’s offering her breasts up to me.“That’s it,” I say. “Out and back.”“Mmnn,” she says.I let my lips touch the back of her ear. “You have to use your whole body weight. Lean into it. Yeah. Just like that.” My voice sounds like sandpaper and whiskey. I barely recognize it, but it doesn’t surpise me. Maria does that to me.Maria presses her ass back against my crotch and I bite back a moan. “You have to work it until it’s soft. Pliant.”We knead the bread together, and the rhythmic push reminds me of exactly what I want to do to her. Maria feels it, too, if the way her head lolls back against me is any indication.“You like that, querida?”She shakes her head.“Your body says otherwise.”I want to sweep everything off the counter and lift Maria up onto it.“I think I got it now,” she says.“Huh?” I’m too much in a fog to understand what she’s saying. I picture releasing her hands and holding her around her waist, sliding my hands up to cup her breasts.“I got it, Spider. You can let go now.”I blink. Maria elbows me gently in the side of my waist. I step back. Maria gives the dough a few vicious pounds with the side of her fist and then molds it into a disposable bread pan.“This will be delicious,” she says.It will.

Eight hundred and eighty days. That’s how long it’s been since my no good ex broke my heart. And I was doing just fine without him.
But now, with both of us playing hockey for Boston University and running in the same circles, I can’t seem to avoid him—no matter how hard I try.
And boy do I try.
It seems my former boyfriend is cockier than ever—if that’s even possible. He thinks by aiming his crooked, dimpled smile my way, all the pain he caused will be forgotten.
Not a chance.
No longer the same naive girl, it’ll take more than striking good looks and flirty banter to trip up my plans for the future.
I’ve got goals, and giving Donovan Archer a second chance with my heart isn’t one of them.

Author: JP Roth
Genre: Paranormal Romance
About Blood and Shadow:
It’s a strange thing to wake up dead, knowing you are standing in the center of unchangeable destiny—strange, yet acceptable. When the moment holds the death of someone you love—that’s where the rules of destiny deserve to be broken.Cara Wynter read a book that told her stories of another place, a forgotten time. As she read, she remembered the man she loved—the dark stranger in her dreams, re-lived her own death in his arms. Now, he is in front of her, wanting her, loving her, desperate to save her, even from herself. From the dark halls of Hades to the hidden mountains of Transylvania, Cara finds herself falling yet again for the man who once traded his soul to save her own. Spells, witches, mythical creatures, and ancient, avenging gods threaten her daily. Terrifying, emerging powers and twisted murders—are her new normal. The horrors she tried for years to ignore, come for her with a vengeance, dragging her into a hidden world of fantasy, and magic.
The candle flame danced in the foggy mirror. It lit the small, black cracks running around all four sides. I remembered the mirror and the world it leads to—creatures who glowed like me, mermaids, and minotaur dancing with the unimaginable. Drake had taken us back to Limbo. This morning, I had stood beside him on the stone steps of the castle bridge as a rider brought him a wax sealed message. He read it quickly—while I felt like I had fallen into the fourteen hundreds—then shoved it crumpled in his pocket, cursing a stream of words in a language I only partially understood. Everything after that point happened in a whirl, he swept through the house like an avenging tornado, nearly grabbing Lily and Alexie and shoving us all into a carriage, then, a white rattling taxi. He pulled us down a long alley, and we went through the small, wooden door. We stepped inside the dark room, badly lit by that single candle, sitting under the large, silver mirror—always burning. The torn purple wallpaper, and grey stones were the same, the corners populated in numerous, intricate webs spun by tired spiders.Drake waved his hand in front of the flame, and the mirror rippled like water. I heard Lily’s sharp intake of breath, squeezed back when she grabbed my hand.“Are you afraid?” I whispered.Lily snorted. “Of course not.” I felt her hands starting to get hot, she glanced at them, then back at me. “I’m never afraid, anymore.”“You never were,” I said. My coat brushed the ground, the cotton material was soft and molded to my skin. The tassel hem was tipped in sparkling beads that shimmered around my ankles. Drake handed the strange, beautiful coat to me before I left the castle, saying it had once been mine. My black gloves protected me from fingertip to elbow, still, touching the coat made me feel like dreaming. The dress I had left the housein was small and black—only bravery and my new devil-may-care life view made me put it on—my heels were unusually high and felt precarious.“You look gorgeous,” said Drake. “Just breathe.”He was the gorgeous one, his leather jacket looked like it wore a moving shader, blue light spilled under his collar igniting the gold in his eyes. “It’s difficult,” I said. “To breathe, that is. I didn’t know what I was getting myself into the first time I came here. Now that I do...”“Anticipation killing you, is it?” he asked, smiling down at me.I said nothing, only bounced on my toes and melted a little under his tender gaze.Lily reached out her fingers and touched the rippling mirror, the glass bounced and writhed. She wore a red dress that swathed her in yards of skintight cloth, and a woolen coat of a matching color, her gloves were a soft blue-gold. Her lipstick was almost black, and I could see flecks of silver in the gloss—she was tantalizing as Lilith, and just as sinful—like Drake and Alexie both, she looked made for this place. If my skin had notbeen glowing a soft shade of resplendent, I would have been the odd one out, as it was, I shimmered like bottled starlight. I held my hand out in front of me and stepped through the glass pulling Lily with me. This time we walked through a curtain of beads, andthere were no visible doors in the round, humongous room. Torches lit the space, and I saw golden harps, and oil-skin drums instead of strobe lights and DJs. Sparkling moss peppered with blades of red grass covered the floor, the ceiling was a twilight sky painted silver and ivory. Purple, and yellow vines swung from the moving tufts of springy clouds. A blue haired girl flew to me on peachy wings and stuck a garland of gardenias on my head like a crown.

From Goodreads…Acting
like she's in love with her handsome nightmare of a co-star--in a movie
directed and produced by her complicated Hollywood royalty family--is Sloane's
job. But what happens when the lines between script and reality get blurred?
Out-of-work actress Sloane Ford is in desperate need of something to do after
losing her steady TV gig. When her famous family ropes her into working as a
producer on their World War II-era romance, they neglect to mention that the
film will be headlined by Joseph Donovan, her least favorite former co-star of
all time. The roguish actor made her life a living hell the last time they
worked together, using his movie star good looks and Irish charm to cover for
his erratic professional behavior. On their new film set, he promises he's
different now, but Sloane is far from convinced.
As filming gets underway, it becomes clear that anything that can go wrong will
go wrong. When the lead actress is abruptly fired, Sloane agrees to step in and
take over the role, and she starts to remember why she fell in love with acting
in the first place. On camera, she and Joseph share an electric chemistry. Off
camera, they've been honing their characters and, much to Sloane's surprise,
growing closer. But playing the role of a woman in love with Joseph Donovan is
a dangerous business, and the more time they spend together, the less Sloane
can tell what's real between them, and what's just for show.
My Thoughts…Working with your family is never easy,
much less a Hollywood family working on a movie.Sloane’s acting career was cut short and
while her mother gave her a job on the movie the family is working on, she
feels like it is a pity job. When
things happen on set and she is suddenly given the lead role starring against
the actor who made her life hell before we know that things will get
interesting.
Love Scenes is a fun and easy book to read. The family dynamics are spot on with many
tense moments along with a lot of laughs.I liked how there was ex’s, current spouses, girlfriends, sisters,
mothers, and fathers all involved in the making of the film.It kept things interesting and fun to read
letting me see the interactions of all the members of this Hollywood family. The fact that everyone, including the ex’s,
seemed to get along for the most part was a relief.I liked that the family, for the most part,
got along.
Joseph was a wild card for me.I could like him or I could hate him.He had to earn his keep with me.I liked that Sloane put her hurt aside and
did what was best for the movie but she also did not quickly forgive him.He put in the work, did the job, and earned
the trust back.I liked that it was a
slow romance.The heat and attraction
was there from the beginning but it took time for their relationship to develop
and I enjoy seeing them get to know each other again.

Lying in his arms was comfortable as breathing. I had the feeling again, like I had done this a thousand times, lay right here in this exact spot. Only this time the feeling had altered slightly, morphed into a certainty—now I knew I had. Thoughts of dark spells, and murdering goddesses receded like the ground beneath the climbing plane. I fell asleep, the rightness of the moment spilling over all my thoughts. This was where I was meant to be, here in his arms. Witches, heritage, immortality, spells, hell, and gods be damned—this was my place. It seemed every single thing in my life leading up to this exact moment had been nothing more than shadows and parlor tricks. He was my reality. On the glittering trail of that thought came a moment of pure feeling, irrational and possibly volatile, yet altogether enthralling. I wondered if I could keep him with me for always.

Readers will love this fake romance featuring a swoony adoptive dad. Multi-million-dollar companies don’t run themselves and I work hard to keep mine at the top. Befriending a kid was never on my agenda, but the second I set foot into my new apartment, he’s there to show me the ropes. When his foster family can’t keep him anymore, my choice is clear. The only thing I need to make him part of my life is something money can’t buy. A girlfriend.
I have to look like a freaking fish, opening and closing my mouth over and over. Brown hair, hazel eyes, that face that not even time can make me forget. “Holy shit! Sebbie?” Talk about a blast from the past. I look the man in front of me up and down. The last time I saw Sebastian Keller, he was eighteen, gangly, and had acne, and I was madly in love with him. The Seb in front of me is definitely not a kid anymore. He’s at least six-foot with a chiseled jaw for days and is rocking the gray sweatpants like a porn star. There’s definitely dick print there. And I’m not unimpressed. Oh, my god, stop looking at his junk.
“Stevie. Wow.” He breaks our mutual silence, and my eyes snap up from perusing his body. Face. Yes. Focus on his face. Hazel eyes, a little stubble, a swoop of dark hair on his forehead. Yup. Still Seb standing there. I take stock of the features one more time just to be sure and come to the same conclusion. Sebastian is my delivery, and time was good to this man. He grew up real nice. He’s checking me out too, but like a gentleman: he’s staring at my face, those eyes I know so well searching my face for something. I think back to right before I got out of my car and try to figure out what he sees right now. My eye makeup was on point at the beginning of the night, but I’ve worked a whole shift at the coffee shop and delivered ten meals since then. My hair is… I probably shouldn’t think about it. The ponytail it started in is probably lopsided and messy, but nothing I can do about it now.
“I take it this is your dinner since you’re in front of the only penthouse I see?” I offer the food and hold it between us. After way too long, he takes it very slowly like he may spook me if he moves too fast. The way my heart is hammering tells me this might be true.
“Yeah. Thanks.” His hand wraps around the bag, and I scope it for a ring. Nothing. Interesting. We keep staring at each other, and my hand falls uselessly to my side. “Do you want to come in?” As soon as he says it, Seb’s brows furrow like he’s surprised himself.
“I, uh, no. I don’t want to bother you.” I shake my head and take a step back. I am not emotionally stable enough for this, and I’m not wearing lipstick.
“Right. You’re working. Sorry.” Seb winces, or tries to smile, I can’t tell.
“No, you’re it. For now.” Good job, Stevie, now you don’t have an excuse to leave.
“Then come in for a second. I’m starving and need to sit down after that run. I can’t believe you’re here.” Then I get a real smile and know for sure that this sexy man in front of me is the same Seb from my childhood. That smile does the same thing now that it did fifteen years ago. My face gets hot, and I chew my bottom lip.
“Yeah. Okay. Just for a second.” I nod, trying to figure out why I just agreed to this. I smell like fried food, dogs, and coffee. Not a good combo, and I’m sure I look as tired as I am, but my stupid feet don’t get the memo, and they do the opposite of what my rational brain is saying. Seb tips his head for me to follow him in.
