Book Review for The I Do Over by Samantha Chase

The I Do Over by Samantha Chase is now live!

For 48 hours, they were married. But that was a long time ago.

Seventeen years ago, Maggie Christopher told one little white lie, and it has been wreaking havoc on her life ever since. At the time, the lie was worth it—it meant she got to marry the man she loved, however brief a marriage it was—but now she’s ready to finally move on. But in order to do that, she needs to find the man whose heart she broke all those years ago and finally apologize.

Knox Channing has everything he could have asked for in life—after a career in the Navy SEALs, he’s now running a thriving security firm with his two best friends. The only thing that would make it better is if he wasn’t the lone single guy in his friend group. But after having had his heart broken once, he’s not looking to go back there. Or at least that’s what he thought before Maddie showed up in his office.

He swore that he would never let himself fall for anyone again, much less for the woman who once broke his heart. But sometimes you fall in love with the most unexpected person at the most unexpected time. Twice.

My Thoughts:   I love the Meet Me at the Altar series.  I feel like Samantha Chase could write this series forever and I would be thrilled.    There are so many amazing characters that need their story to be told.

This is the story of Knox and Maddie.    Their history is so messed up that I was not sure if even Samantha Chase could write them a happy ever after.  Of course, she did and I devoured every word getting there.   I loved that their history was not a secret.   Knox had talked about it a little bit and the first word out of Maddie’s mouth, when she arrives at Knox’s work, is that she is his wife.    They had a lot to work through and it was not easy or pretty.   There were fights, walking away, trying to move on, but nothing could keep these two apart.  Both characters worked hard to love, trust, and respect each other.  Knox had to figure out how not to dwell on their past and Maddie had to stand up for Knox to her family.   As they spent more time together, I could see their HEA coming and it was beautiful.

Maddie’s dad is horrible.  There is verbal abuse in this book, not by Knox, but by her dad.  This could be a trigger to some but it was not a big part of the story and was handled carefully.

Meet Samantha

Samantha Chase is a New York Times and USA Today bestseller of contemporary romance that's hotter than sweet, sweeter than hot. She released her debut novel in 2011 and currently has more than seventy titles under her belt - including THE CHRISTMAS COTTAGE which was a Hallmark Christmas movie in 2017! She's a Disney enthusiast who still happily listens to 80's rock. When she's not working on a new story, she spends her time reading romances, playing way too many games of Solitaire on Facebook, wearing a tiara while playing with her sassy pug Maylene...oh, and spending time with her husband of 30 years and their two sons in Wake Forest, North Carolina.
