For the month of December, I am going to post about some of my favorite books, favorite authors, and books I just can't forget about.    These are all books I'd recommend purchasing for Christmas gifts or for your own enjoyment.

Addison Cole is the sweet-romance pen name for author Melissa Cole.   She writes humorous and emotional sweet contemporary romance. Her books do not include explicit sex scenes or harsh language. Addison spends her summers on Cape Cod, where she dreams up wonderful love stories in her house overlooking Cape Cod Bay.

I love reading Addison Cole's book knowing that I will find sweet, sexy, and fun characters.   The setting of Cape Cod Bay is a favorite and I am always excited when she has a new book coming out.   Be sure to read to the bottom to find a GIVEAWAY for some of her amazing books.

Brianna Heart has a six-year old daughter and a twelve-year plan to keep her life as simple as possible until Layla turns eighteen. That means swearing off relationships and the drama that goes along with them, working two jobs, and being the best mother she can be.

The last thing Capital Series Grand Prix racer Hugh Braden wants after dating media-hungry leggy models and money-hungry fan girls is a blind date. But how could he turn down a favor to one of his best friends? Hugh expected the date to go poorly, but he didn’t expect to be intensely attracted to the beautiful brown-eyed bartender who completely blows him off—and steals his every thought thereafter.

When Brianna’s perfectly orchestrated life turns upside down, Hugh is there to help, softening the turmoil, and maybe even rescuing her heart from the lonely place where it has been hiding. Can a man who doesn’t believe in fate and a woman who doesn’t believe in true love find happiness in each other’s arms forever?

And Then There Was Us is a Sweet with Heat novel and conveys all of the passion you'd expect to find between two people in love without any graphic scenes or harsh language. If you're looking for a more explicit romance, pick up the steamy Love in Bloom edition, Hearts at Play, written by New York Times bestselling author Melissa Foster. Addison Cole is Melissa's sweet-romance pen name.

My Thoughts...

Sigh, another wonderful Braden to swoon over.  Hugh Braden lives a fast life with his racing, his model girlfriends, and his never-ending traveling.   As the rest of his siblings start finding love and settling down, he realizes that the life he never thought he wanted doesn't sound so bad.   Little did he realize that settling down included a sweet Brianna and her adorable little girl.

I love how much respect Hugh shows to Brianna and Layla.  He understands why he can't just jump into their life, he has to step back and let Brianna have most of the control since it is her daughter but he doesn't let her have all the control.   He still charms her, romances her, and makes her fall in love with him all while learning how to open his heart and let her win his heart.

Layla is the true princess of the story.   She has the innocence of a child and no one wants to take that away from her.  I love how the entire family and friends realize how important she is.  They love her entirely, they give her all she needs and many of her wants, they teach her manners, and they expect her to respect others.   I like that they teach her real life and let her learn lessons as they come up but they don't expect her to be a grown-up.   While I love Brianna and Hugh, Layla is one of my favorites in this story.

After having her heart broken by a country music star, Savannah Braden has sworn off men. She takes a break from her fast-paced Manhattan lifestyle for a weekend at a survivor camp to rebuild her confidence and readjust her priorities. But when she meets the handsome guide, Jack Remington, she's drawn to everything about him--from his powerful physique to his brooding stare--despite the big chip on his shoulder. Powerless to ignore the heated glances and mounting attraction, Savannah begins to reassess her hasty decision.

After losing his wife in a tragic accident, Jack Remington found solace in the Colorado Mountains. This solitary existence allows him to wallow in his guilt and punish himself for having made a decision that he believes cost his wife her life. He never expected to want to return to the life he once knew--but then again, he never expected to meet gorgeous, stubborn, and competitive Savannah Braden.

One passionate kiss is all it takes to crack the walls the two have built to protect themselves, and allow love to slip in. While Jack fights his way through his guilt, and struggles to get back into the lives of those he left behind, Savannah is there to help him heal, and together they nurture hope that they've finally found their forever loves.

Promise of a New Beginning is a Sweet with Heat novel and conveys all of the passion you'd expect to find between two people in love without any graphic scenes or harsh language. If you're looking for a more explicit romance, pick up the steamy Love in Bloom edition, Bursting with Love, written by Melissa Foster.

My Thoughts…

Addison Cole introduced Savannah Braden to her readers when telling the story of Savannah’s brothers.  I have waited to see her find her soul mate and was excited when I learned this was her story.   Then I picked up the book and from the very beginning, I knew that it was going to be heartbreaking to read.    Jack Remington is broken after losing his wife and there is no easy way to move past that.     But Savannah is just the person to help Jack figure out how to start living again.

In true Addison Cole style, I was pulled in, became invested in the characters and their stories, and didn’t stop reading until I learned how Savannah and Jack would be able to come together happily.   This book isn’t always easy but it is always true to itself.   These two do not play games with each other, they are honest with each other from the very beginning.    The attraction is what pulls them to each other in the beginning but their hearts and souls are what helps them work through the toughness of life.

I am a huge fan of the Sweet with Heat series and am always excited to meet new characters and catch up on some of the ones that appeared in past books.   I love that each book is a standalone and the series does not have to be read in any specific order.

Available to buy from......

Lacy Snow wasn’t looking for love when she met strikingly handsome and seductive Dane Braden. But how could she ignore the six-foot-three darkly handsome god who tagged and researched sharks for a living—and made every nerve in her body tangle into an overly sensitive knot? Even her fear of sharks could not suppress their intense attraction.

As the founder of the Brave Foundation, Dane Braden travels from port to port, educating and advocating on behalf of the mammals he adores—and spends his nights finding solace in the arms of strangers. The last thing Dane was looking for when he met Lacy Snow was a relationship, and the last thing he expected was to fall in love.

More than a year—and hundreds of flirty texts, steamy phone calls, and sensual video chats—later, they reunite and take passion to a whole new level. But as Lacy’s phobia meets Dane’s past love life, their steamy romance is upended, and when tragedy strikes, Dane and Lacy are forced to face their deepest fears head-on as they try to navigate their own sea of love.

The Art of Loving Lacy is a Sweet with Heat novel and conveys all of the passion you'd expect to find between two people in love without any graphic scenes or harsh language. If you're looking for a more explicit romance, pick up the steamy Love in Bloom edition, Sea of Love, written by New York Times bestselling author Melissa Foster. Addison Cole is Melissa's sweet-romance pen name.

My Thoughts…

Addison Cole’s Sweet with Heat series is so amazing.   Lacy and Dane’s story is the perfect addition to the series.    They are not the perfect couple but they are perfect for each other.    They love, respect, and trust each other but they have to work to get there.   It wasn’t easy, it wasn’t quick but it was exactly right for Lacy and Dane.

Dane is the type of man that Lacy needs.   He protects her, he loves her but he doesn’t let her fears get in the way of her living her best life.  He goes way beyond the norm to win Lacy’s heart and trust.    His job is what stands between them and he doesn’t force her to accept it, he takes it slow and steady to show her what he does, how he stays safe, and lets her figure out the best way for her to handle it.  I love how gentle and understanding Dane was of Lacy’s fear.

This is the perfect addition to the Sweet with Heat series and I can’t wait for more.

Blog Post for The Writing On The Wall By Marilyn Howard

The Writing On The Wall
By Marilyn Howard

Determination and Destiny Led the Way

Determined her destiny would not be the predicted path for most girls of her generation, the author portrays her youthful travel adventures, harrowing legal battles and romantic surprises. Her route winds around a semester in Italy, breaking through a glass ceiling as art director at an advertising agency, skiing in Aspen, wandering through Mexico, working in Hawaii and enjoying group houses in the Hamptons before beginning her startup and family. New territory was charted in 1970 with the founding of Creative Freelancers Inc., the first central agency for freelance commercial artists and writers. It operated in Manhattan for over 25 years and in 1997 it was the first agency on the web. A late marriage to an older, sophisticated New York man made her a mother to two of her own children and three stepdaughters. Her path as an entrepreneur is explained and suggestions are mentored from experiences. Events converge and uncanny predictions come true. This narrative nonfiction is both an exciting treasure hunt and penetrating exploration of the challenges facing business women in the 1970s and today.

For the month of December, I am going to post about some of my favorite books, favorite authors, and books I just can't forget about.    These are all books I'd recommend purchasing for Christmas gifts or for your own enjoyment.

Patti Callahan Henry is an author that I have been a fan of for many years.   Every time she releases a new book I jump right on reading it.    With each of her books, I know that I will be up late reading and sneaking time throughout my day to read.

Below are some of my favorites books by Patti.

Jimmy Sullivan has been living on the road with his brother, Jack, and his band The Unknown Souls. Without a place to call home, Jimmy and Jack lead a nomadic life filled with music and anonymous cities. When they return to a place Jimmy never wants to see again—their old hometown of Seaboro, South Carolina—he falls in love with Charlotte Carrington. With his soul now filled with hope, Jimmy writes his first love song. When he performs it at a holiday concert to a standing ovation, the lyrics are dubbed the “Perfect Love Song,” so much so that Jimmy finds himself going on tour with famous country music stars, catapulted into a world where the trappings of fame and fortune reign supreme.

All too soon, the hope that had once inspired Jimmy to write such beautiful, genuine lyrics is overshadowed by what the song can do for him and his career. In his thirst for recognition, he agrees to miss Jack’s wedding in Ireland to sing at a Christmas Eve concert. And his ties to Charlotte seem to be ever so quickly slipping away.

Alone in New York City on Christmas Eve, Jimmy finally sees—with the help of a Christmas miracle or two—that his material gains are nothing compared to love, that he is losing all that really matters in his life. Is it too late to find his way to Ireland, to his brother, and to love?

From the New York Times bestselling author of The Bookshop at Water's End, here is a lush, heart-wrenching novel about the power of memory, the meaning of family, and learning to forgive.

Ten years ago, Lena Donohue experienced a wedding-day betrayal so painful that she fled the small town of Watersend, South Carolina, and reinvented herself in New York City. Though now a freelance travel writer, the one place she rarely goes is home--until she learns of her dad's failing health.

Returning to Watersend means seeing the sister she has avoided for a decade and the brother who runs the family's Irish pub and has borne the burden of his sisters' rift. While Alzheimer's slowly steals their father's memories, the siblings rush to preserve his life in stories and in photographs. As his secret past brings Lena's own childhood into focus, it sends her on a journey to discover the true meaning of home.

The women who spent their childhood summers in a small southern town discover it harbors secrets as lush as the marshes that surround it...

Bonny Blankenship's most treasured memories are of idyllic summers spent in Watersend, South Carolina, with her best friend, Lainey McKay. Amid the sand dunes and oak trees draped with Spanish moss, they swam and wished for happy-ever-afters, then escaped to the local bookshop to read and whisper in the glorious cool silence. Until the night that changed everything, the night that Lainey's mother disappeared.

Now, in her early fifties, Bonny is desperate to clear her head after a tragic mistake threatens her career as an emergency room doctor, and her marriage crumbles around her. With her troubled teenage daughter, Piper, in tow, she goes back to the beloved river house, where she is soon joined by Lainey and her two young children. During lazy summer days and magical nights, they reunite with bookshop owner Mimi, who is tangled with the past and its mysteries. As the three women cling to a fragile peace, buried secrets and long ago loves return like the tide.

As we like to say in the south: "Don't let the truth get in the way of a good story."

Ella's life has been completely upended. She's young, beautiful, and deeply in love—until her husband dies in a tragic sailing accident while trying save her. Or so she'll have everyone believe. Screenwriter Hunter needs a hit, but crippling writers' block and a serious lack of motivation are getting him nowhere. He's on the look-out for a love story. It doesn't matter who it belongs to.

When Hunter and Ella meet in Watersend, South Carolina it feels like the perfect match, something close to fate. In Ella, Hunter finds the perfect love story, full of longing and sacrifice. It's the stuff of epic films. In Hunter, Ella finds possibility. It's an opportunity to live out a fantasy – the life she wishes she had because hers is too painful. And more real. Besides. what's a little white lie between strangers?

But one lie leads to another, and soon Hunter and Ella find themselves caught in a web of deceit. As they try to untangle their lies and reclaim their own lives, they feel something stronger is keeping them together. And so they wonder: can two people come together for all the wrong reasons and still make it right?
