Making It Right by Catherine Bybee

Kindle Edition, 350 pages
Expected publication: May 9th 2017 by Montlake Romance

Some kids inherit a family business; Jo Ward inherited a badge. Once voted Most Likely to End Up in Jail, the town wild child has become sheriff—hell-bent on uncovering the truth about her father’s mysterious death. Life is quiet in rustic River Bend, but Jo longs for something beyond her small hometown and the painful memories it holds. All that keeps her sane is the support of her best friends, Melanie and Zoe.

But when Jo signs up for an expert law enforcement training seminar, she meets Gill Clausen, whose haunting eyes and dangerously sexy vibe just may challenge her single-minded focus. Commitment-phobic Jo can’t deny her attraction to the arrogant federal agent, and when odd things start happening around River Bend and danger surrounds her, she realizes she’ll need his help to discover who’s out to remove her from River Bend…permanently.

As Jo and Gill work together, it’s clear they make a great team. But can Jo loosen her grip on the past enough to let love in and reach for the future?

My Thoughts…

Jo is the sheriff of the small town she grew up, took the job over after her dad died, and is not happy.     While reading the other books in this series I was curious about Jo, what was her history, what is her future, and what is she going to do with her life were all questions I had about her.   Catherine Bybee answered all those questions and more in Making It Right.

At the beginning Jo seemed kind of like a pushover, which is not usually a word I would use to describe a sheriff.    The town definitely took advantage of her, calling her at all hours, showing up at her house, and not showing her the respect she deserved.    The first time she chose to do something for herself, going to the FBI training program for a week, I cheered.   I didn’t know what she would find there but I saw it as the first step towards doing something for herself.   From the moment she met Rocco I knew her life would not go back to being the same.

The girls, Zoe and Melanie, are Jo’s best friends.   I love the support, the fun, and the love between them.     There is no doubt that no matter where life takes each of these wonderful characters they will be there for each other.     Zoe and Melanie each had their story told in the first two books of this series but it was fun to catch up to them and see where their life was currently at.

The friendships and the relationships in this book were amazing.   There was sparks, heat, love, and respect.    Jo’s story is my favorite and I am sad this series is over but so glad Catherine Bybee share them.

I recommend reading all three books in the series.  Each book can be read as a standalone.
