About ROAR (Stormheart #1):

New York Times bestselling author Cora Carmack's young adult debut: Roar.

In a land ruled and shaped by violent magical storms, power lies with those who control them.

Aurora Pavan comes from one of the oldest Stormling families in existence. Long ago, the ungifted pledged fealty and service to her family in exchange for safe haven, and a kingdom was carved out from the wildlands and sustained by magic capable of repelling the world’s deadliest foes. As the sole heir of Pavan, Aurora's been groomed to be the perfect queen. She’s intelligent and brave and honorable. But she’s yet to show any trace of the magic she’ll need to protect her people.

To keep her secret and save her crown, Aurora’s mother arranges for her to marry a dark and brooding Stormling prince from another kingdom. At first, the prince seems like the perfect solution to all her problems. He’ll guarantee her spot as the next queen and be the champion her people need to remain safe. But the more secrets Aurora uncovers about him, the more a future with him frightens her. When she dons a disguise and sneaks out of the palace one night to spy on him, she stumbles upon a black market dealing in the very thing she lacks—storm magic. And the people selling it? They’re not Stormlings. They’re storm hunters.

Legend says that her ancestors first gained their magic by facing a storm and stealing part of its essence. And when a handsome young storm hunter reveals he was born without magic, but possesses it now, Aurora realizes there’s a third option for her future besides ruin or marriage. She might not have magic now, but she can steal it if she’s brave enough.

Challenge a tempest. Survive it. And you become its master.

EXCERPT: “This life is not glamorous,” Duke told her. “We travel constantly. We sleep on the ground most nights. When we’re not in danger from storms, we’re in danger in cities where we are considered criminals. This life is not for the faint of heart.” “There are things I do not know, things I will have to learn. But I am capable. I am familiar with sacrifice. I know what it is to make hard choices.” “Tell me you’re not considering this,” Locke said to Duke. The old man was silent for a long moment, both Locke and Roar looking to him for support. Duke rubbed at his mustache, a habit of his when he was thinking deeply. “Let’s think about this, Locke. She’s smart. And determined.” “She’s a child.” Roar’s shoulders hunched in Locke’s peripheral vision, and he swallowed back the guilt. He could apologize later. For now, it was imperative that he won this argument. “You were a child when I brought you into the fold,” Duke said. “She’s a young woman with a good head on her shoulders. And if this is what she wants, I’m inclined to at least hear her out.” Just like that, Roar’s shoulders straightened, and Locke turned to watch a devastating smile bloom across her mouth. His weakness when it came to her only made him more cross. “What skills do you have?” he snapped at Roar. “Skills?” “Yes, skills. What can you do? Or do you just plan to tag along for the ride?” A flush spread over her cheeks, and her voice was tentative when she answered, “I’m good on a horse. Very good.” Where in the world would she have learned to ride? He quickly hardened his expression. “Horses are fine for travel, but they don’t do well in storms. They, unlike you, have good survival instincts.” As soon as the words were out of his mouth, Locke could have sworn he felt an updraft—the first sign that bad weather could occur—and he knew that this time he had pushed too far. Roar marched toward him, spearing a finger into his chest and said, “I can read and write. I can speak Taraanese, Finlaghi, and Odilarian. I can read maps. I know enough about grassland vegetation and wildlife to survive without a market to buy food and drink. I’m good with knives and a bow. I learn quickly, and I’m not afraid of hard work. And I’ve spent my entire life reading as much about storms as I could get my hands on.” For a moment, her voice cracked under the weight of her anger, but she took a huffing breath and continued: “I’m good with numbers. It’s been a while, but I think I can probably still draw the constellations from memory, which should make me decent at navigation. I can—“ “Enough.” Locke’s voice came out in a deep rasp. He captured her long, delicate finger in his fist before she could continue poking him. He felt short of breath at the sight of her—livid and lovely. “Enough.” The old Locke might have kept arguing, and Roar would have met him toe-to-toe. But if becoming a storm hunter had taught him anything, it was that fighting head-on wasn’t always the way to win. Sometimes strategy was required. He met Duke’s eyes over her shoulder, and if he had thought Roar looked smug before, she had nothing on his mentor. The man raised his eyebrows in a challenge and asked, “You?” He hated the idea of bringing someone into this dangerous life, but if it was going to happen regardless, he sure as hell wouldn’t hand her safety over to anyone else, not even Ransom. And at the very least, it would give him the opportunity to change her mind. He gritted his teeth and nodded his acceptance.

Henry glanced up at the clock. Two thirty p.m. Somehow he’d expected Win to show up bright and early this morning. He’d woken up and made a pot of coffee, and he’d gone over all the ways he would explain to her that this was a bad idea. Because it was still a bad idea. Alicia might have given in to Noah and Drew Lawless’s blackmail, but she would be back at some point. Then there was the fact that he dealt with unsavory clients on a daily basis. He took on high-profile cases and often got dragged through the mud along with the client. There were plenty of people out there who hated him. Loathed him and despised the very fact that he existed and cheered if he failed. He was used to it. Sweet little Win was not and would be horrified. So he was going to tell her how amazing their night together was and then turn her down gently. Except she hadn’t shown up and that bugged the hell out of him. She’d been the one to claim she would be here despite the fact that he’d told her not to come. She’d told him she didn’t care what he thought. It was perverse, but if he’d had her number, he might have called and said a few things about setting expectations and then not meeting them. He started another pot of coffee. This was completely foolish. She’d put some distance between the two of them and realized how little they had in common. At least one of them had some sense. The scent of French roast hit the air and he realized he was procrastinating. He was putting off the moment when he had to step back into the city and face the music. He would have to work his ass off to find anyone who wanted to hire a lawyer with his tarnished reputation. It didn’t matter that his addiction issues had never cost a client a dime. The perception would be there, and perception was over half the battle in life. He should pack up tonight and leave it all to the agent. It’s what he should have done yesterday, but he’d enjoyed spending time with David, showing him places on the island and telling him stories. It was time to go home now. Time to forget about pretending to be someone he couldn’t afford to be anymore. Time to put away thoughts of quiet and peace and get back to being the Monster of Manhattan. That was the only way he was going to survive. The Monster of Manhattan didn’t give in to urges. He plowed through all problems with a single-minded, ruthless intent. The Monster didn’t need attention, though he tended to get it. Attention didn’t matter to the Monster. Money mattered. Power mattered. He would get them both back. The Monster certainly didn’t need some do-gooder in his bed. He would select a woman, rationally discuss his needs with her, and pay her for her services, whether they be as a plus-one to gatherings or as a body in bed. That was how he would view it. Transactional. Transactional was safe. So he was going to stop being such a whiny asshole and be grateful that Win had some sense. A knock broke through the quiet of the house. He practically ran for the door. He opened it and there was Win, standing in the soft light of the afternoon, her hair up in a ponytail. She was wearing denim shorts and a blousy, feminine shirt. She had a bag of groceries in one hand and what looked like a duffel in the other. “I know you said I shouldn’t come back, but you’re wrong and I’m going to give you all my reasons why.” He didn’t care. She was here. He walked straight up to her and cupped that pretty face in his hands and kissed her for all he was worth. Fuck transactional. He wanted something real for once in his damn life. When he came back up, he was rewarded with a soft look in her eyes, her lips curving into a small smile. “No arguing with me?” He did have some problems they should discuss. “You’re late.” Her smile went brilliant. “I had some things to clear up. I thought if you didn’t mind, I might stay with you for a few nights.” He took the bag of groceries out of her hand and led her inside. “I think that sounds like a great idea.” “This is way easier than I thought it would be,” she admitted. “Have you had lunch? I could whip up some sandwiches and we could have a picnic.” He stashed the grocery bag in the fridge. She set down her duffel, and that made it much easier to scoop her up and into his arms. “I know exactly what I want for lunch.” Her eyes went wide, but she didn’t struggle at all. Her arms went around his shoulders as he carried her to the big bedroom. It had been cozy in his old room, but he needed more space if she was going to live here with him for a few weeks. He stopped at the edge of the big bed he’d had brought in after he’d inherited the place. It was the only room he’d redone, with the thought of spending long weekends with his friends up here. He never had managed the time, but now he was happy he’d spent the cash to do it because he could share it with her. The last few weeks of being Henry before going back to the real world. He set her down on the bed and pulled his shirt over his head. He wasn’t playing around this time. That was for later. It had been entirely too long since he’d had her. He needed her. He knew it was something he should question, even be slightly afraid of, but he didn’t care in the moment. All that mattered was she was here and he could put off any thoughts of letting her go for a few days. He could sink into her. She was his reward for every crappy thing he’d been through in the last couple of years.

Have you got tea and cake organised?

I think you will need it. Better still get yourself a piece of angel cake. It’s a cake featured a lot in my new book.

I have a new romantic comedy coming out. About time too, I hear you say. What took you so long?

Well, I’ve been writing psychological thrillers instead. I’ve written three now. In case you haven’t heard of them, they are titled ‘REMEMBER ME’ ‘SECRETS AND LIES’ and ‘WATCHING YOU’

Writing those took a fair bit of time but then the spring came and the sunshine and lots of you were asking when is a romance coming so I thought what a better time than summer to bring out a new one. So here it is …
‘WHEN ARCHIE MET ROSIE’

AMAZON UK:  https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07DC935KV

I absolutely loved writing this novel. I adore the main characters Archie and Rosie and I hope you do too.

Meet Archie
Archie wants for nothing. He has a lovely five bedroomed house in the best part of Essex and he loves angel cake. Life isn’t the same, however, not now his precious Cath has died and all his daughter-in-law seems to want is his house. Well, Archie isn’t giving that up for no one.  And then one Friday Holly has a night out …

Meet Rosie
Rosie dreams of leaving the Tradmore Estate. She dreams of going to Paris. She also dreams of studying. But for Rosie, that’s all they are, dreams.  Then one Friday night everything changes when Holly has a night out …

Against all the odds Archie meets Rosie.

A romantic and poignant story of how love can strike you at the most unexpected time and in the most unexpected places.

Available now to pre-order and released on the 9th June.

Dr. Theodore Grant worked hard his entire life to achieve his goals. He was a prominent, renowned psychiatrist. He had it all: wealth, prestige, respect. Or so he thought.

When tragedy unexpectedly struck, he was forced to help his best friend’s daughter. She needed him. What he didn’t know was that he needed her, too—like his own breath.
How could he know it would all go so terribly wrong? That he would cross the line? He fought the desire leading him astray with everything he had, but in the end, he wanted only one thing: her.
To hell with what was right. Losing everything never even factored in his decision. All he wanted to do was live in the moment. Her moment.
She found his demons and slayed them with her innocence. The answer was clear now: he had done the right thing. He was certain of it. People would believe what they wanted to believe.
His notion of right and wrong was discarded the day Eden Barnett walked into his office. What he didn’t know was that it would be the day his life truly began.

AUDIOBOOK REVIEW of Chased by Love by Melissa Foster

Narrated by: B.J. Harrison
Series: Love in Bloom: The Ryders, Book 3, Love in Bloom, Book 40
Length: 9 hrs and 12 mins
Unabridged Audiobook
Release date: 08-10-17
Language: English
Publisher: Melissa Foster

Publisher's Summary

In Chased By Love:

Actress Trish Ryder takes her job seriously and has no time for those who don't. When she's awarded a major role in a new movie featuring America's hottest rock star, Boone Stryker, she's beyond excited. The six-two, tattooed hunk of burning desire, is known for his dedication to his craft - but when he ditches their first meeting, she begins to wonder if he's just another rocker with a great PR team.

My Thoughts…

I usually listen to books that I have already read.    Chased by Love is a book that I loved when I read it and now that I’ve listened to the story too I am even more in love with the story, the characters, and the settings.    While listening to the book I found emotions that I missed while reading and characters that were tied together in ways that I didn’t catch the first time.  BJ Harrison is amazing as usual, the story pulls at my heart in true Melissa Foster fashion, and I could not stop listening.    Whether you are new to audiobooks or an ol’ pro Chased by Love is a book that I recommend listening too.

Oh how I love this series. With each book, I get to know another wonderful, loving, and charismatic couple and wish they were my friends. Chased by Love is the story of Trish and Boone. Both in the entertainment industry, they lead lives that most people only read about in magazines or watch on TV. Together they are an unlikely match. I felt like of all of the couples Melissa Foster has introduced the reader to Trish and Boone are the mostly unlikely to be together. Yet, they fit. They complimented each other, they understood the pressure that the other was on with their work, they had a great family and friend support system, and they trusted each other.

There are so many characters in this book that deserve their own story that I am not sure who to ask for next. I want to know more about Lucky, Boone’s brother, and Raine, Boone’s mother. I think it would be interesting to know more about Raine since she is an older character who has suffered the loss of her husband and is deserving of a second chance at love. Lucky just seems like a good bad boy who would have an interesting take on falling in love. I am beyond excited that Jake’s, Trish’s brother, story will be told next. This Ryder family certainly keeps everyone’s lives interesting.

My favorite part of this book is the epilogue. The wedding of Duke and Gabriella is the peak of the story for me. The glimpse into the lives of the rest of the Ryder family at this wedding gave me a chance to catch up on who is married, who has a baby, who is pregnant, and who is still looking for their love. I always love to catch up with past characters.

As always, I recommend this book to anyone looking for a quick read with romance, love, and steamy scenes.

Review & Excerpt Tour for Fighting for Everything by Laura Kaye

From New York Times bestselling author Laura Kaye, comes the first standalone title in her brand, new Warrior Fight Club series, FIGHTING FOR EVERYTHING. Join the Warrior Fight Club world today!

Loving her is the biggest fight of his life…

Home from the Marines, Noah Cortez has a secret he doesn’t want his oldest friend, Kristina Moore, to know. It kills him to push her away, especially when he’s noticing just how sexy and confident she’s become in his absence. But, angry and full of fight, he’s not the same man anymore either. Which is why Warrior Fight Club sounds so good.

Kristina loves teaching, but she wants more out of life. She wants Noah—the boy she’s crushed on and waited for. Except Noah is all man now—in ways both oh so good and troubling, too. Still, she wants who he’s become—every war-hardened inch. And when they finally stop fighting their attraction, it’s everything Kristina never dared hope for.

But Noah is secretly spiraling, and when he lashes out, it threatens what he and Kristina have found. The brotherhood of the fight club helps him confront his demons, but only Noah can convince the woman he loves that he’s finally ready to fight for everything.

My Thoughts...

I love this book so much.    Friends to lovers is a story that I find myself drawn to.   Laura Kaye tells the story of Kristina and Noah.   Best friends growing up with an underlying of attraction until they come together after Noah returns from his deployment injured and feeling broken.    The minute Kristina walked into the picnic and sees Noah the sparks flew.     The attraction was there and there could be no doubt that something had changed.    While they jumped right into exploring the attraction there wasn't an insta-relationship.    They fought it, they pushed it away, and they worked hard to figure out how they could come together without losing what was so important to them.

Fighting for Everything is a romance book but it is also the story of a soldier coming home from deployment different from how he left.    It is the story of PTSD and how it affects not only the soldier but those who love him.  It is also a story of people, strangers, coming together and pushing each other to find themselves again.   The story of other retired military who have gone through what Noah is going through and helping others.

This is a heart breaking, heart warming, wonderful, eye-opening story.     I am excited for more from the Warrior Fight Club.

REVIEW of Best Beach Ever by Wendy Wax

Paperback, 368 pages
Published May 22nd 2018 by Berkley

In the latest Ten Beach Road novel, Maddie, Nikki, and Avery all move into cottages at the Sunshine Hotel—and in this charming new location, begin to pursue daring new dreams.

After giving up their renovation-turned-reality-TV-show Do Over, the ladies of Ten Beach Road move into cottages at the Sunshine Hotel and turn their beloved Bella Flora over to its wealthy mystery tenant. Now, each woman will be forced to reexamine and redefine her life, relationships, and dreams.

My Thoughts...

Best Beach Ever is a perfect book to start my summer.   I want to go stay with Nikki, Kyra, and the rest of the wonderful women.    I want the beach sunsets with the women toasting their lives, the listening to the trials of their days, and to find the happiness they find with each other and in their lives together.

There are many sub-stories that come together to tell the story of the Ten Beach Road ladies.    Anyone who reads should find at least one character they connect with.   There is great diversity in the characters.    Nikki is an older mom of twins who is overwhelmed with life but wanting to prove that she can handle it all.    Kyra is dealing with life as a single mom and an ex who is expecting more than she feels she can give.   Avery is afraid to commit to the man she loves.   Bitsy is a person who is looking for revenge on her ex-husband.  With each character, there was something I could relate to and could feel what they were feeling in life.

This is a series.   The book can be read without reading the rest of the book in the series but I think the reader will miss some of the most special, important moments of the book if they don’t know the history of the characters.     The back stories are important to know why they are how they are now and what they truly need out to be happy.
