The thing about hitting rock bottom…
Ridley doesn’t think he has anything left to lose, not after the life he’s lived. Then he meets her, Freya Capone, the nurse who saves his life when the last thing he wants is to be saved.
One look at her, and he’s transfixed.
He doesn’t know what drives him to run by her house that night. Intuition. Sixth sense. Whatever it is, his gut screams at him to go, so he goes.
And thank God he does.
There isn’t any farther you can fall…
Freya hits bottom after her brother’s death. Her rock. Her best friend. Her everything. Gone.
She always knew it was a possibility that he might get hurt while on shift, but she never entertains the thought of him dying. Not until it’s too late.
She literally has nothing else to lose. Until she meets him. Ridley Walker. A biker with The Uncertain Saints MC and a local sheriff’s deputy.
The man responsible for taking away her best friend.
But at least you have a solid foundation to build upon…
The last thing Freya wants is to fall in love with the man responsible for her brother’s death. She doesn’t want to care that he is nearly killed. She doesn’t want to have anything to do with him.

I listened, wondering where everyone was, when I came to the final hallway that led to the gym.
I came to an abrupt halt when I saw three women crowded around a door, all of them looking in on what was going on on the other side.
“Uhhh,” I said. “What are y’all doing?”
None of them turned, but Lenore, Griffin’s wife, waved me over.
“Come here and see,” she said, holding out her hand for me.
I came, taking her hand, and peered over her shoulder.
My mouth dropped open as I got my first good look at the men in the gym.
No, the fact that nearly all of them were shirtless wasn’t the reason for the flabbergasted look on my face.
Nor was the fact that they all had so much weight on their bars or in their hands
No, it was the fact that nearly all of them were dancing.
To Sexy Back.
Griffin squatted to the beat of the music while Mig did some sort of shimmy with his hips as he did pushups on the ground.
The only one not dancing, out of the whole bunch, was Core, who was busy taping the entire thing from the corner of the room, unbeknownst to everyone else.
Had they known, they probably would’ve been kicking his ass.
But they didn’t know.
They just continued on with what they were doing, oblivious to their audience.
Then Pony came on, and I groaned right along with the rest of the ladies.
It was like Magic Mike, but better.
Much, much better.
Ridley took center stage then, jumping up on the blocks that the men used to do vertical jumps up onto, where he then proceeded to do some raunchy move with his hips that had me all hot and bothered in a matter of seconds.
A big, bad, tattooed biker that had the power to undo me.
“Oh, boy,” Tasha said. “Would you look at that?”
I tore my eyes away from my man to follow where she was pointing, and I started to laugh.
Casten was dipping down low, twisting and bouncing as he curled huge weights that were at least the size of half my body.
That went on like that for four long minutes, and by the time they were finished and laughing, I was fanning myself.
“I think we’re going to be a little late,” I mentioned to the ladies. “I’m needing some…attention.”
Annie, Mig’s woman, tossed me a look over her shoulder that clearly said I wasn’t the only one.
Taking that as my cue, I pushed through the doors.
“I need some time!” I announced to the group as a whole.
All eyes turned to me, but it was my man who was still bouncing on the balls of his feet, all hot and sweaty, his hair and beard slightly damp with his sweat, that had my full attention.
I started to fan myself almost reflexively, and he read me and my needs almost immediately.
He hopped down, walking towards me with a purposeful spring in his step.
He didn’t even bother to speak to me, only bent down slightly once he’d reached me, captured me just under the ass, and carried me out of the room.

The French War Bride: Wedding Tree by Robin Wells

Paperback, 432 pages
Expected publication: August 2nd 2016 by Berkley

World War II Paris serves as the backdrop of a story of compassion, betrayal, and forgiveness from the national bestselling author of The Wedding Tree . . .

“I never knew what he saw in you.”

At her retirement home in Wedding Tree, Louisiana, ninety-one-year-old Amelie O’Connor is in the habit of leaving her door open for friends. One day she receives an unexpected visitor—Kat Morgan, the ex-fiancĂ©e of her late husband, Jack.

Kat and Jack were high school sweethearts who planned to marry when Jack returned from France after World War II. But in a cruel twist of fate, their plans were irrevocably derailed when a desperate French girl overheard an American GI’s confession in a Parisian church. . .

Now, Kat wants to know the truth behind a story that’s haunted her whole life. Finding out how Amelie stole Jack’s heart will—she thinks—finally bring her peace. As Amelie recalls the dark days of the Nazi occupation of Paris,
The French War Bride reveals how history shapes the courses of our lives. . .for better or for worse.

My Thoughts…

WW II is my favorite.  I love to read the history of the war, the history of the people in Europe and how the war affected them, the history of the people in the US  left behind by the soldiers fighting the war in the but mostly I love to read about women in the war.    I love to know how women coped with their men leaving, what those who were living with the fighting going all around them, and how life can go on with all the horrors they are witnessing.    The French War Bride has everything I love within its pages.

This story was uniquely written.   There are two points of views.   Both women had a love in common, Jack.   I was enthralled with Amelie’s story of war, Joshua, being a spy, and being a woman in Nazi occupied Paris.     Her story was heart breaking, eye opening, and truly remarkable.     She lost her entire family in WWII yet she never gave up on life.      The friendship with Yvette, her best friend, was amazing.   From childhood neighbors and best friends to both working against the Nazi’s during the war their friendship never wavered.    The way the two of them worked together and trusted each other is amazing.     Kat, the one Jack left behind, is jilted.     With her death, due to cancer, looming in the near future she is looking for closure.   She wants to know why she was jilted.   I felt like Kat was extremely selfish.    She listened to Amelie tell the story and jumped on anything that was said in a positive way about her.     I didn’t dislike her; I just didn’t really like her.  I felt like she was the prom queen, mean girl who just assumed everything revolved around her.      The war affected both women in different ways and caused changes to their lives that were not expected.

The French War Bride is fiction yet there was so much history in it.    Robin Wells did her homework.   The descriptions of the war planes in the sky, the treatment of Jews, and so many other happenings were true to life.    There was so much description in the paragraphs that I could picture the life that those in France were living with the Germans in charge.     This is an incredible WWII story.   I recommend everyone who loves this era as much as I do to pick up a copy today.

Solina knows she won’t last long on her own. She must find out what happened to Skyla and unite her contentious allies if she hopes to track down this devastating weapon before her enemies use it to burn the world to ash.

My Thoughts…

Arctic Dawn is book two in The Norse Chronicles.   I read book one a year ago and loved the paranormal aspect and the characters so much I was anxious for book two.    My only issue with Arctic Dawn is that there is no history given.   Since it had been a while since I last read The Norse Chronicles it took my about 25% into the book to refresh my memory as to who the characters were and what their history was.     I wish Karissa Laurel had given a little background information just to refresh the reader’s memory.

There was a lot of Norse mythology within Arctic Dawn, which I am not overly familiar with yet I was not missing anything by my lack of knowledge.    I loved the characters and the story.   Sol and Thorin’s relationship is intriguing, drama filled, and interesting.    The way they circled each other, pushed their trust for each other, and explored their feelings for each other.    I am still not sure exactly what these two are to each other but I am hoping that it is all made clear in the next book.   There were other characters that I keep thinking about but Sol and Thorin are the big ones for me.

At times there was a lot going on in the book.  Sometimes it was overwhelming and a tad confusing.   Yet at no time did I want to stop reading.   I pushed, pulled, and prodded through the story.  I had to know what was going to happen.   Would Helen, the bad guy, get Sol?    Are they going to kill the wolf?      So many questions and I still have so many to be answered.

The Norse Chronicles has to be read in order.   I’d highly recommend reading books 1 and 2 as close together as possible.   I am sure I will be referring back to book 2 when book 3 is released.      I definitely recommend picking up your copies today.

Supremacy (Supremacy #1) by Christin Lee

Kindle Edition, 1st edition, 330 pages
Published June 3rd 2016
Kate Parker is a 17 year old senior living in Texas. She's on the swim team, has two incredible best friends, and a passion for saving animals. She falls hard when she meets a mysterious and fascinating guy named Lucas. He has a sexy accent and a killer smile. However, she sees unexplained pain and anger in his dark brown eyes. He claims he’s a foreign exchange student from Spain who is attending the local University—Kate knows there’s more to his story than that. She works hard to discover who he is—what he is.

My Thoughts…

A YA paranormal is exactly what I was looking for.    Supremacy fits this description perfectly.    Christin Lee has a way with telling this YA story that even the not YA reader will love this book.  I kept thinking I had to put this book down and get something else done but I kept reaching for the book having to read on more chapter…one more paragraph.    What’s the problem with that?   I read many more chapters and paragraphs.

Being a teenager having their first relationship is testing at best.  Add into the relationship the fact that one of the people in this relationship is not a “normal” teen and there really isn’t anything easy about it.      Kate’s father is protective in a good way and Lucas is protective in a sometimes scary way.      Their relationship had some very realistic characteristics.   The worry of a first kiss and the wanting to be together all the time are normal.     I enjoyed watching their relationship progress.

The paranormal aspect was always there but did not really come into the story until later in the book.   I enjoyed that part also.   It was an easy paranormal.  Not a thing that happens and you say no way… not possible… unbelievable.   The Hallows could be real, they aren’t but they are made realistically.    The people who live in that world are just like us.    Friendly, with jobs, and a lot of questions.

If you are looking for a quick, easy, and fun read Supremacy is perfect.     I can’t wait for book two of this series.
