REVIEW of Saving Grace by Gigi Aceves

Kindle Edition, 176 pages
Published February 18th 2018 by GI2 ACE Publishing

Grace Carmichael's world was turned upside down when she was fifteen. The convent became her home. The grotto her safe haven. She lived, breathed, and learned a life she never chose.

Ten years later, freedom came knocking and she took a chance she never thought she would.

Phoenix Hayes experienced a double dose of heartache when death tragically altered his life at seventeen. Being the ultimate warrior he has never doubted a mission. Except for one -- saving Grace.

Sometimes to find yourself you have to risk everything including your heart -- even your life.

My Thoughts…

I love the romance, I love the drama, and I love the characters of Saving Grace.    Nix is a hard alpha male.   He’s had a tough life, found a family he will do anything to protect and keeps his heart behind brick walls.   Until Pops sends him on a mission to save Grace, then he opens up little by little.   The claim he lays on Grace from the very first meeting was obvious, heated, and perfect.     Grace lived her life in protection from everything.   She has no real idea how the outside world is but does know that some extremely dangerous people are after her and Nix will keep her safe.    I love that she immediately trusts Nix.    She has a second sense of who she can trust and know immediately that he will do everything possible to keep her safe.

Everything about Saving Grace was amazing.     The story was unforgettable, the characters are memorable and unique, and the romance was perfect.   I am excited to read the next book in this series and see what else the world holds for Nix and Grace.

Author Bio
Rosie Green has been scribbling stories ever since she was little. Back then they were rip-roaring adventure tales with a young heroine in perilous danger of falling off a cliff or being tied up by ‘the baddies’. Thankfully, Rosie has moved on somewhat, and now much prefers to write romantic comedies that melt your heart and make you smile, with really not much perilous danger involved at all, unless you count the heroine losing her heart in love.
Rosie’s brand new series of novellas is centred on life in a village café. The first two stories in the series are: Spring at The Little Duck Pond Cafe and Summer at The Little Duck Pond Café.

GUEST POST & GIVEAWAY by Florence Keeling author of Reflected Destinies

Current and future projects

My debut novel Reflected Destinies has been published now for just over a year.  It was such an amazing feeling when I first held a copy of my own book in my hands.  It was a dream come true for me, something I had dreamt off since I was a little girl.  My future ambition is to be able to turn my writing into a career and the only way I can do that is by writing more stories.

I’m very lucky that at the moment I have lots of ideas for stories for my women’s fiction novels, my children’s novels and also some future young adult books.

Later this year my second novel under the name of Florence Keeling is due for release.  Entitled Winters’ Gift, it follows the story of Bea Winters, an aspiring author from Birmingham.  She has a bizarre family, an unconventional childhood and is unhappy in her work.

Strange events unfold that lead her to re-locate to Yorkshire.  With her dream job in a publishing house and a sexy new boss she soon falls in love with the town of Bloomsdale and its residents.  But there’s one resident in particular that she keeps bumping into and secrets have a habit of revealing themselves.

The first in my children’s series entitled Josie James and The Teardrops of Summer was released in August.  It tells the story of 13 year old Josie who while staying at her Great Grandmother’s cottage for the summer finds herself swept into the hidden world of Suncroft.  The series is five books long with the second, Josie James and The Velvet Knife due for release in Spring 2019 and I am just starting to write the third one, Josie James and The Trial of Ages.

I have just finished writing the first in a new children series about a magic academy that runs alongside a traditional high school.

Future Florence Keeling stories I am looking forward to writing are Forever Not Yours, The Inglenook Café and A Cranberry for Christmas.

I have also part written a novel for young adults entitled The Jubilee Consortium.  It is a speculative fiction novel set in 2020 where a group of people learn to re-adjust to a whole new life after an epic event on New Year’s Eve.

My most challenging story that I have started is a trilogy called The Blood Tree Chronicles which is a post-apocalyptic novel with four different viewpoints.  I have only ever written with one main character so I am really looking forward to the challenge of this one.

New story ideas come to me all the time and just earlier today I had an idea for a Camelot re-telling with female knights and a female King Arthur.

 Reflected Destinies

Laura is happy and content, she has a new boyfriend and loves her job teaching primary school pupils in London.  But when she inherits a rundown house from a stranger on her 30th birthday, memories of her prom night come flooding back, memories of a scary encounter and an antique mirror in the very same house.

Laura visits the house with all its secrets and as she unravels the clues she reveals the biggest secret of all: her own destiny.  But how can you change the future if it’s already written in the past?

Author Bio
Born in the North East, I am a young, married mum with three children. I assist in running a family business from my home-base and I have a large readership of other young mums in business for my blog posts.

From an early age I have had a passion for writing and have been gathering ideas and plot lines from my teenage years. A passionate advocate for women in abusive relationships, I have amalgamated and fictionalised other survivors experiences alongside my own to write my first novel detailing the journey of a young woman from the despair of an emotionally abusive and unhappy marriage to develop the confidence to challenge and change her life and to love again. I hope that in reading my debut novel, I will raise awareness of this often hidden and unseen behaviour and empower women in abusive relationships to seek help for themselves and find the confidence to change their lives.

Title: Take Me In the Night

Author: R.L. Kenderson

Genre: Contemporary Romance

About TAKE ME IN THE NIGHT:

First, he took my heart. It started in high school. I was his girlfriend…he was the love of my life. We had plans for after graduation. We were going to escape—he from his family’s reputation and me from my father’s control. But all that changed the summer before college. Charged with a crime he hadn’t committed, he was whisked away from life, never to be heard from again. Then, he takes my body. Twelve years later, he’s back. He’s bigger, he’s tougher, and he’s harder around the edges. He’s no longer the boy I fell in love with. But I’m no longer the girl who gave him her heart. Everything’s changed between us. Anger, resentment, and bitterness have replaced happiness, love, and trust. Except for when darkness falls. That’s when he comes to me at night, taking what is still his. Now, he’s going to take my soul. When the lines between our old love and our new hate begin to blur, I know that, this time, I might not survive if he leaves.

Exclusive Excerpt:

I wish I were able to sneak into Maddox’s room like he was able to sneak into mine. I supposed I needed some military training in order to know how to do that. Instead, I pulled out the old spare key I had from when the Carson brothers had lived there. I had taken care of their dog a couple of times while they were on vacation. I just hoped the key still worked. It worked but not without some jiggling. Damn these old doors and old locks. I pushed the door open and was greeted by darkness. It was only about ten at night, but Maddox must have already gone to bed. I was glad that I had used the key instead of knocking. I padded quietly into the room and shut the door. The moment the latch clicked, a hand went around my mouth, and a hard body slammed me into the wall. I tried to yell out in fright. “Addison?” It was Maddox. “Yes,” I said, but it came out muffled. He dropped his hand and spun me around. My eyes had adjusted to the light. I could see a gun in one hand, thankfully pointed away from me. I heard him flick the safety on. “What are you doing here?” “I came back early.” He chuckled. “Yeah, I can see that. But why?” I put my hands on his chest. Ooh, it’s bare. I dragged my fingers down, down, down. “I wanted to see you,” I told him. He brushed his lips against mine. “What are you doing?” “Checking to see if you’re naked.” He pushed his pelvis into me. “Spoiler alert: I am.” I gasped as I took his length in my hand. “You’re hard.” He nuzzled my neck. “Adrenaline. Plus, a hot woman just snuck into my apartment.” He sucked on my skin. “Wow. You’re so lucky. What are you going to do to her?” He chuckled again and put his mouth next to my ear. “Fuck her, of course.”

About R.L. Kenderson:

R.L. Kenderson is two best friends writing under one name. Renae has always loved reading, and in third grade, she wrote her first poem where she learned she might have a knack for this writing thing. Lara remembers sneaking her grandmother’s Harlequin novels when she was probably too young to be reading them, and since then, she knew she wanted to write her own. When they met in college, they bonded over their love of reading and the TV show Charmed. What really spiced up their friendship was when Lara introduced Renae to romance novels. When they discovered their first vampire romance, they knew there would always be a special place in their hearts for paranormal romance. After being unable to find certain storylines and characteristics they wanted to read about in the hundreds of books they consumed, they decided to write their own. One lives in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area and the other in the Kansas City area where they’re a sonographer/stay-at-home mom/wife and pharmacist/mother by day, and together they’re a sexy author by night. They communicate through phone, email, and whole lot of messaging. You can find them at http://www.rlkenderson.com, Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr, Twitter, and Goodreads. Strand of Faith

When the choice is between love and life, how can anyone decide?

A girl and a monk, both with extraordinary mental powers, have compelling reasons not to fall in love.  But those from whom they expect support are manipulating them both because their choices will have consequences for the rest of the world.

After a stormy youth, Brother Prospero has found comfort and fulfilment in the monastery.  That is, until he discovers something that forces him to reconsider his whole vocation.  To follow his heart, he’ll have to face his demons again, outside the security of the monastery. Is it worth the risk?  Can he beat them this time? Or will they finally destroy him?

Orphaned and mistreated, Leonie has found sanctuary and safety at the abbey.  All she wants is to learn how to manage her unusual abilities so that she is not a danger to those around her.  When she comes into contact with Prospero everything threatens to spiral out of her control.  Whether she leaves or whether she stays, how can she possibly avoid destroying – yet again – those she has come to care about?

Abbot Gabriel is faced with an impossible choice.  He can do nothing and watch the world descend into war.  Or he can manipulate events and ensure peace – at the cost of two lives that he is responsible for.  He knows what he has to do but is he strong enough to sacrifice those he loves?

Author Bio
Rachel J Bonner is the author of the four book Choices and Consequences series, the first of which, Strand of Faith, is due out in November 2018.
Getting a degree in engineering, followed by a career in accountancy is probably not a conventional path to becoming an author, particularly in paranormal romance.  Rachel says that, although accountancy isn’t anything like as boring as everyone thinks, writing is a lot more fun.  When not writing, she can be found walking in the beautiful countryside near where she lives, which has influenced much of the scenery in her books, or shooting things with her local archery club.  Target shooting only, honest.  Nothing to worry about.
She also enjoys swimming, eating chocolate chip cookies and growing aromatic herbs, especially thyme and rosemary.  It’s no coincidence that her heroine likes the same things.

Exclusive Excerpt:

It’s always easier, staring at Ryan Taylor from afar. His stormy, dark eyes give a warning to strangers: stay away. Tall at ten years old, Ryan pretends that his alcoholic father doesn’t bother him. But he does. I see it in his navy-blue eyes when his dad returns from sea. It’s summer. The heat from the sun on my face makes me feel warm, almost happy. I watch as Ryan stalks toward me, quietly, as I lie in the middle of the mustard field. The scent of sea in my nose. I pray this pain goes away—the pain in my heart from the riptide that has torn through the Young family this morning. We knew it was coming. I should maybe feel relief that my mother is no longer in pain, but I want to retreat back to before she had cancer. When there wasn’t a cluster of pills on the counter. When it didn’t smell like a hospital on 4578 Opal Street at the top of the hill with the view of the ocean. “Hey,” he says, breathless. “You been running?” I peer up at him through squinty eyes. “Yeah. From my house. When I heard the news.” Ryan sits down next to me and then lies down, placing his hands behind his head, peering up at the same summer sky. “You okay?” I hear him whisper. I don’t know. I feel sick, and numb, too, I guess. “What are you supposed to feel when your parent dies, Ryan?” The birds chirp. Crickets sing. I wait. Praying that his answer will deliver some peace. Life is going on at a pace I wasn’t prepared for. Moving forward. It has picked up and left my mother in the past. And I’m paralyzed. “I don’t know.” He’s quiet for a moment. “I guess it’s supposed to feel like how ugly looks maybe.” I laugh because I picture Ryan as ugly, and I just can’t with his skin that looks like the color of caramel, eyes the color of the Atlantic, short dark brown hair, and a long, lean body that is always ready, willing, and able. I want to tell him I’m sorry his mother left. Before Ryan could walk, his father had just come home from a two-week sea trip, and his mother bent down, kissed him good-bye, and never came back. According to Ryan. I suppose he knows what ugly feels like. I suppose he knows what it’s like to have his life turned upside down, twisted, knotted, nasty. “People are shitty,” I say. “Yeah. People are shitty.” We both stare up at the bright blue sky and look for our mothers. We see the sadness, life’s imperfections as the clouds float by. We take heed in the fact that life would just be easier if we didn’t get so attached, if we didn’t become loved, if we didn’t give love. Because, in the end, this ache in our hearts wouldn’t hurt so bad. I feel Ryan’s eyes on me, but I continue to stare at the deformed elephant that drifts past me. “One day, this all won’t hurt so much, Violet,” he whispers. And, when he calls me this, the stinging of my eyes begins.
