Everywhere It’s You by C.B. Salem

Kindle Edition, 170 pages
Published March 2015 by Existence Press

How do you find someone you see everywhere you look?

Legal investigator Kristina Andersen has been drugged.

It started when she came into work and was tasked with finding the firm's biggest client: the intense, enigmatic pharmaceuticals billionaire Landon Tatum.

She'd just had a sexy encounter with him while working a birthday party undercover at a seedy strip club the previous night. Now he's missing, and she needs to find him.

Problem: the drug coursing through her veins makes it so every man she sees looks like the man she's searching for.

And that's just the start of it.

My Thoughts…

Sometimes a short story can leave a reader wanting more.     Everywhere It’s You left me wanting more but not because I didn’t get enough of the story in this book.     There is everything a full length novel has and more within these pages.     There was a story, great developed characters, and an ending that left the reader in need of more.      I am always amazed when an author can tell an entire story in such few pages.   C.B. has the talent.

This story is a sci-fi, futuristic detective story.    Kristina Andersen is working for a big company looking for their top client.   The problem?   She is seeing him everywhere.   At least she is seeing his face everywhere.    The character of Kristina was interesting.   She is a strong woman, which I love, who knows what she needs to do to continue her job.     She is not intimidated by the FBI or her boss and holds her ground when questioned.     A good strong female character is something I always enjoy in the books I read.

There is a sneak peak of a possible budding romance happening, but it was not prevalent in the storyline.    I’m interested to see where that could head and hope that both characters involved stay strong.      A storyline where the romance comes from working for it not from ease of access is something I enjoy.

I am looking forward to checking out the next part of this story.  C.B. Salem is now on my must read list.    I recommend checking out this story.

Once Upon a Forever by A.V. Scott

Kindle Edition
Published October 23rd 2015

Eight years ago, Cooper was dating the hottest and most desired girl in Ash Falls and on his way to take over his father’s hotel empire –– the thing was, it wasn’t the life he wanted. The only way he could escape the life his parents had planned for him, was to give up the money and power that came with being a Chamberlin. And, that’s exactly what he planned to do. At the end of the Summer, he was going to leave it all behind, start a new life, on his own terms and without the influence that came with being a Chamberlin.

That was, before he met Emma.

Following her parents’ divorce, Emma is the rock for her alcoholic mother, and her younger sister. She appears resilient, and tenacious, but inside she’s falling apart. The only thing that keeps her going is her love for writing poetry, and that when she finally graduates High School, she’ll be able to start living the life she has always dreamed of.

Until she meets Cooper.

It was supposed to be a Summer fling. She had dreams of her own. Dreams that didn’t include him or his social circles. No one even knew they were friends, let alone lovers. Yet, for one Summer, Emma became Cooper’s entire world. And he, a reminder that love doesn’t have to come with warning signs.

Until one frightful night, when both of their lives, and the lives of the residents of Ash Falls, were turned upside down. Emma is left with one choice, run from the life she thought she didn’t want, and the guy who stole her heart.

But, when she returns six years she is faced with a devastating truth that shakes the very foundation that her life was built upon. Another has already claimed the man she loves.

Will true love prove the test of time?

Will cooper find his way without losing the things and people that matter to him the most?

Can Emma recover from life's lessons?

Could Emma and Cooper’s love survive when those closest to them keep tearing them apart?

My Thoughts…

Sometimes when a story flips between characters and/or time it can get confusing.     A.V. Scott handled both of these perfectly.   Each chapter was labeled clearly, the story easily told, and the timing easy to follow.     I found it interesting to hear the story from a teenage perspective and from a 21 year olds point of view.   It was fun.   The way a 17 year old reacts to something and how a 21 year old reacts to something are not always so different.

I struggled with the sister relationship between Emma and Lizzie.  How could sisters hate each other so much?  I understand that the mother did nothing to help them have a relationship but that should have brought them closer together.    I also struggled with Cooper’s relationship with Lizzie when he should have been protecting Emma.     Everything was not as it seemed, but it was still a thought that came back to me over and over again.

This is a different story.   It is an easy read.   The story flows, the pages flipped, and the characters kept it interesting.   I recommend checking it out if you are looking for a fun book to cuddle up with.

My Thoughts on this series….

I had to think about reading this series when Amy Richie asked me.   I hesitate, thought about it, and decided sure why not.     A few things that swayed me to say yes was that she asked me, the email was addressed to me and she commented on things I had on my blog,  the books are actually novellas, and I could get book 1 and book 2 at the same time so I could continue with the story.    The one thing I did not count on liking them so much that I am not anxious to get my hands on book3.   WATCH OUT Amy I will be stalking you until you release it!

This series so far is unique that book 1 ends and book 2 does not start until 8 years later.    You would think that would leave a gap in the story.  It most certainly does not.   It is the perfect timing, with the best characters, and a great flow of storyline.      Book 1 does an amazing job of letting the reader get to know the characters and caring about their future.   Book 2 brings that future to the reader and lets them catch up on all that has happen in that 8 year gap.

The storyline is unique.    The setting is not normal for my reading, but I truly loved it.     I could picture the world as Amy described it, see the characters as they figured out how to keep alive, and feel their feelings as their world was shook and changing.      The pages seemed to fly through my hands as I had to keep reading to find out what happens next.

I recommend checking out this series.   It is a series that has to be read in order.    I will be anxiously awaiting the third book in this series.

Debt by Rachel Dunning SPOTLIGHT

Expected Release Date:
March 30, 2016

What’s it about?

The Debt Collector

I pay my debts, and I expect others to.
I was raised in the slums of London, I knew nothing of privilege. My father was murdered when I was seventeen. Morty figured my father's passing meant I would automatically take on dad's debts. I refused.
And I paid for that refusal.
So did my sister.
So now I fight. All I know how to do is fight. The best cash is in the states, so that's where I am now. A big fish called Vito came along offering me a "favor" when I arrived.
Another debt.
I paid for that one too.
I knew Kyla Hensley would be trouble when I met her. But I wanted her. I could see through the falsehood of her wannabe-slutty clothes and her sexy legs. So I chased her.
Besides, trouble is my middle name.

Kyla Hensley

I was brought up in privilege, but I lacked everything else. My father is a business tycoon who buys and sells and doesn't care who gets rolled over in the process.
I never knew my mother, and all I have of her is a photo with a note scrawled on the back in French saying "I'm sorry." The only Female Figure I had growing up is my dad's wife who is a bleach blond with seven boob jobs. We never bonded.
I drink. I party. I meet guys.
But I wasn't always like that.
I've had a string of lovers in the last few years, the worst and most recent of which was Vince Somerset. My best friend Vera was dating a guy called Rory Cansoom who is the opposite of Vince in so many ways, and yet so the same.
She and I hit the road for the summer, getting away from the two college psychos and just trying to have some fun.
But there's a funny thing about trouble, the more you run from it, the more it finds you.
Which is when I met the Debt Collector.
It was only supposed to be sex. He made that clear. I made that clear.
That's all it was supposed to be.
I never expected to fall in love. I never expected to fall so deeply, madly, uncomfortably in love with a man who is wrong, so wrong for me.
And yet...so unbelievably right.

The Total Package by Stephanie Evanovich

About The Total Package

The Total Package cover• Hardcover: 256 pages
• Publisher: William Morrow (March 15, 2016)

The New York Times bestselling author of Big Girl Panties is back with a funny, sweet, and sizzling novel about love, redemption, and second chances. Heartthrob star quarterback Tyson Palmer has it all: a million-dollar arm, a winning season and the promise of a Superbowl ring. But more importantly, football’s biggest star is the ultimate comeback kid. After an addiction to painkillers nearly derailed his career, Tyson got sober and went from zero to hero in the eyes of the public. But one person remains unconvinced: Dani Carr, a sports commentator with high ratings and following of her own. Dani can’t forgive Tyson’s transgressions or forget a single passionate night with him back in college. To make things worse, Tyson doesn’t realize that the bombshell with huge ratings is the cute co-ed whose heart he once broke. But can a sports journalist trying to claw her way to the top and a quarterback who knows all about rock bottom make it to the Super Bowl without destroying each other? And what will happen when Tyson—riding high now that he’s revived his career—realizes he needs to make an even more important comeback with Dani? Can he use his million-dollar moves to get past her defenses—or will she sideline him for good? Stephanie Evanovich is a full-fledged Jersey girl from Asbury Park and the New York Times bestselling author of Big Girl Panties and The Sweet Spot.

My Thoughts…

A washed up, drug addict football player meets a smart, cute woman who thinks she can change the players way, what could go wrong?     EVERYTHING!!!     I could see the train wreck happening.     The way that Ella thought she could fix Tyson was a great thought but anyone could see that there was no way it would work.    Fast forward many years and Tyson is recovering, Ella is now Dani and working towards her dream job.   Life is on the right track for both of them.

I had many hopes that they would both find their happy ever after, I wasn’t sure that could happen with them being together.    They both were working hard to keep the past in the past although Dani knew their night together would come out at some point.   What I really enjoyed is how true to themselves they stayed.    They did not point fingers or blame each other.   They understood that they both acted as adults and the results of that are on them both.

The Total Package is a quick and easy book to read.    I enjoyed reading it and recommend checking out Stephanie Evanovich’s newest book.

Ten years ago, their lives shattered to pieces...
And he's the KILLER that has to live with it.

Two people. One incident. Interwoven between two damaged souls in ways they don't understand.

But now, they must fight the same war--a past that wrecked them both--destroyed the two people they used to be. With a hurricane of love, hate, anger, fury, and fear, can two broken lives find a way to let it all go for a chance at happiness?

My Thoughts…

Killer is not a story of love and roses.  It is a story of two tormented people punishing themselves by thinking they are unlovable.   Little did they know that they would be perfect for each other.    This is not like other Heather C. Leigh stories.  The story is dark and haunting.    The emotions that I felt while reading this story are indescribable.   The best way I can describe them is a rollercoaster.   I felt fear, love, pity, shame, and hope.   There were so many other feeling between those I listed.

Britt and Killer are intense.   They are intense in their day to day lives, intense in the jobs, and intense with each other.    I could feel the feelings and the stress that surrounded them.    They are perfect for each other.   I love that they have a bond that neither of them realize.     They circle each other, push each other, and love each other as wholly as possible.     The chemistry is crazy amazing.      I was anxious for them to totally connect and was not disappointed when it finally happen.   I did like that it didn’t just happen, they worked for it, they played with each other, and they let it happen when it was right not just because they wanted it.

I want to share this with EVERYONE!   Check out Killer by Heather C. Leigh.    It is entirely totally worth the time it takes to read it.  I can guarantee you won’t be able to put this book down!   Do not forget to read the authors note.    It definitely opened my eyes to why Heather wrote Killer in the format she did.

Excerpt:  Britt freaks out
Britt and Gabriel are waiting for me in his office so we can start our meeting. After my interaction with Wolfe, I’m seething and frustrated. All I want to do is jump into the cage and beat the fuck out of something, release this shit building up inside. Confusing new emotions like jealousy are dueling with my usual focused, raw fury.
The dark, hollow place in my chest isn’t equipped for this. I fight, I fuck, I exist. Nothing more, nothing less.
Furious, I walk over to Gabriel’s office and shove open the door. It bangs against the wall with a loud crack, causing Gabriel to frown and Britt to cry out. Just like that, she drops to the floor, curling into a ball and covering her head with her hands.
Gabriel leaps to his feet, hurrying around his desk to crouch next to a huddling, quivering Britt. Stunned, I stand at the door frozen, unsure what is going on or what I should do.
“Meu filha! Britt! What is happening?” Gabriel’s voice hitches as he tries to pull Britt out from under his desk. His head whips around to face me. “Killer! ¡Venha aqui e ayudar!” (Get over here and help..)
I cross the space in two quick steps, approaching Gabriel’s desk from the opposite side. Britt’s tiny frame is tucked into a tight ball, her knees pulled to her chest, head ducked, and arms curled protectively over her head.
Protecting her from what?
“Britt,” I say in as composed of a voice as I can manage, which at this moment, isn’t saying much. Not a lot freaks me out, but right now, watching Britt fall to pieces, has me struggling to keep calm. “Please, come out.”
Britt is quietly sobbing, her body shuddering in fear. Watching her in such obvious distress sends a stabbing pain through my chest. Not sure this is the best thing for her, but not knowing what else to do, I crawl under the desk. Being as large as I am, I can only get my head and shoulders in next to her.
Gabriel slides into nervous, staccato Portuguese. “I will leave you to take care of her. Let me know when she’s feeling better and I will return.” He stands and leaves the room, gently closing the door behind him.
He left me with her?
What the fuck am I supposed to do? At a loss, I do the only thing that comes to mind. It worked to relax her before, so why not? I gather her tiny, trembling body up in my arms, and hold her. Britt immediately unwinds her arms, clutching me tight, burying her face into my shirt, her tears dampening the fabric.
On the floor in my trainer’s office, lying half under a desk, a tiny shard of my black soul becomes human again.

She loves the Red Sox, the Patriots, and anything chocolate (but not white chocolate, everyone knows it's not real chocolate so it doesn't count) and has left explicit instructions in her will to have her ashes snuck into Fenway Park and sneakily sprinkled all over while her family enjoys beer, hot dogs, and a wicked good time.
